Bismillah,
Heard about Trayvon Martin and Shaima al aw??
If you have not....these two are victims of a hate crime in the US. Both from different back grounds, different states, led different lives and killed for one reason: they were different.
Trayvon was a 17 year old black boy who was walking to the store with a hoodie on...and skittles in his hand. He was shot and killed because he looked like "he was up to no good." His killer is not charged nor arrested.
Shaima Al awadi was a 32 year old mother of 5. She was a Muslim woman who was found dead in her dining room with a note right next to her body. The note read: "go back to your country, you terrorist." Her case is still under investigation.
Just when we thought racism and discrimination ended we're reminded the horrible fact of history----that it repeats itself! These two were only killed because they were different from "typical" Americans? What is a typical American anyway???
I am so mad right now, I hate seeing injustice done to ANYONE....!!
Hate is but a decease, it has no color or creed! I know for sure now that the land of the "free" isn't really the land of the free. I mean, if dressing up in a certain way can cost your life......how FREE are YOU?
Justice will prevail....but we have to speak UP....we have to STAND UP, we have to UNITE. We're a minority.....our voice must be LOUD and CLEAR. Hate crimes MUST be PUT to an END.
I am black, I am hijabi, I am an American. RIP Trayvon and Shaima!
PS: Make dua for the families.....the sister lost her life earlier today. If you can support the cause....do so. I know there are some "millionMarch" events organized in various states. Join them and show solidarity by putting your hoodie up---sister you can wear a hoojab (Hijab with a hoodie). If you cannot, simply remember them in your prayers. Everyone deserves justice, pray that they get what they deserve.
I hope this reaches you in the best of health/imaan
