Main Heading: From Whom should I take Fiqh of the Deen?

Sub-Title 10: Misguidance of the people at the end of time will be as a result of passing away of the scholars

Allah's Messenger (salallahu alaihi wasallam) has informed about taking away of the scholars during the end of time. And when people will be unable to find a scholar, they will choose ignorant as their head, who will give fatawa without knowledge, and will be misguided themselves, and misguide others.

(So) the misguidance of the people at the end of time will be as a result of passing away of the scholars and because of fatawa of the ignorant and those who are (still) learning —this is a clear proof of the position of the scholars in the ummah, and their worth should be known and benefit be acquired from their presence before they pass away. And by 'the scholars' we means,
.those who act upon their Ilm,
.those who possess Fiqh (understanding) of the Deen, and
.those who are people of Istiqama (steadfastness) and righteousness.

As for the scholars of misguidance, the Prophet (salallahu alaihi wasallam) has warned us against them. He (salallahu alaihi wasallam) said,
"Verily, I fear the scholars of misguidance for my ummah." [at-Tirmidhee (chapter of fitan)]

So, the scholars of misguidance are dangerous for the ummah, and they are from the followers of the Shaytaan; (for,) they beautify misguidance, deviation, innovations and turning away from the correct Deen (religion), and so they misguide the people, and Allah's Refuge is sought…

We have to be at our guards against these scholars of misguidance; from their betrayal, their doubts, their distortion of the Words of Allah and His Messenger.

Verily, the praise, commendation and the great reward is only for those scholars who…
.fear Allah - as He should be feared,
.are steadfast upon the Deen of Allah,
.preach the Deen of Allah and call to it, and
.enjoin the good and forbid the evil.

These are the scholars in truth - and it is wajib upon the ummah to honor, respect, recognize the importance of these scholars - and it is wajib (obligatory) upon the ummah to take Ilm from them.

It is required from everyone who can seek Ilm; - the youth and others, - to take lessons from the scholars and take from the Ilm, Baseerah (insight) and Khayr (good/blessings) they possess —so that they may themselves practice and teach it to others.

This ummah, since the time Allah sent His Prophet Muhammad (salallahu alaihi wasallam) until today, generation after generation takes its knowledge from their scholars, and the scholars still preach in every generation - the good has continued and spread, and the knowledge will spread in this ummah —insha'Allah.

Khayr is present in the ummah, and the opportunity is accessible for those who seek the Khayr —so one should seeks Ilm from its people (i.e., the scholars) before the opportunity perishes (and one becomes incapable of seeking ilm).

Similarly, it is wajib upon us, that if we are faced with an issue in our religion whether concerning Aqeedah —and Aqeedah is the most important issue —or concerning worships or other actions or any doubts that arises —it is obligatory upon us that we ask the people of knowledge about our problems. Allah says,

"Ask the people of the Dhikr (i.e., the knowledgeable) if you do not know." [Soorah al-Anbiya (21): 7]

Allah has commanded those, who have no Ilm, to ask the people of knowledge and with this, ignorance dies out, and one is guided to the truth.

Allah did not command us to ask the people of Dhikr (knowledge) except for the purpose of accepting their sayings, and acting upon what they instruct, and we do not back down from their opinions and sayings as long as it is correct and according to the daleel (proof) and we do not see anything wrong or a contradiction to the daleel —it is obligatory upon us to take it —because Allah has instructed us with this.

If we do not ask the people of knowledge, we will remain in Jahl (ignorance), and will fall into dangerous (issues), and we will not reach the truth.

We do not rely upon our opinions or sayings of the ignorant. Verily, we refer to the people of knowledge and turn to the people of knowledge (for solutions) when problems arise.

Sometimes when I see the fitan, I wonder what will happen after the great scholars like al-fawzaan, al-abbaad, etc pass away. Because they stand as a mountain against total domination by baatil.

And then Al-Albaani, Ibn Baaz, Ibn Uthaymeen, Ibn Jibreen, Bakr Abu Zaid, Abdullah Ibn Ghudiyaan passed away - May Allah have mercy on them all. And before that how many great schlolars and luminaries, and before that the passing away of Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihewasallam) - the greatest calamity to strike the ummah.

But the caravan of Islam goes on. The Deen is Allah's, and He is its Protector.
