Assalamu alaikum.

I have this question.

What should be the appropriate age for children to have mobile phones??.I have seen children as young as 8 years old walking around the school with these.just showing off.

Shouldn't mobile phones be banned in school?.

Would love to know your opinion.

Wa alaikum assalam, well you have to keep in mind that some kid's get picked up
by their parents. So if the parents are late the kid's won't start to worry and cry, because they'll have constant contact with their parents insh'Allah. But if that's not the reason then yeah their probably just showing off, I had like 5 cell phones since 12 or 13 and I lost around 4. And there was always a consequence's, because after I lost 1 phone they bought me one of the cheapest phone in the store. So I had to wait for the 2 year plan to end to get a new phone and then I lost that phone ect ect ect.. Till this day I still have 20$ phone and that was probably a year back so now its probably like 5$ =l.

The thing with cell phone is that there is nothing bad in a child using it... it's just the matter of HOW the child is using it... Today, there are a lot of kids who are misusing the cell phone... As long as the child is not misusing the cell phone.. I think it's fine... But, I think the media is having a lot of influence on the kids, so it's easy to misuse the device... However, it's the parents job to teach their children what's right and wrong... And, I think a lot of schools have phones so what's the point of bringing the phone to school?

Yes. The Cell Phone is a bad tool. It makes humans mon-keys. Keep pressing the key whole day and nothing much useful comes out....

Okay enough of my opinion. Behavior scientists/ society trend observers have gathered enough evidence to tell that Cell Phones are proving to be an easy gateway to haraam (p****), to an alarming percentage of pre-teens too and have stressed the need for parental monitoring!

Now technology is a tough space for parents/older ones and generally for people who have lesser ability to grasp and put to practice newer ways of doing things. Technology advances rapidly. Withing every few years a new gadget is out. As one grows older, it becomes difficult for older ones to quickly grasp the new way of doing things and discard old ways. The kids learn ways and means to abuse the tool . And kids also are under huge peer pressure to confirm to the peer norms... and parents are left behind clueless!

In my opinion even TV, is really not needed. There are kids out there who are very knowledgeable, technically able and have no TV or gadgets at home.
