    Waalaikumsalam Ukthi Lovely,

What about the World's Oldest Operating University: Al-Azhar University? A very reputable university in fact in my country, all students given the scholarship by the Government to study on Islamic field will be sent to Al-Azhar University in Cairo.

I am unsure of the requirements however you can surf on their website to find out.

All the best for you Ukthi!

    Wassalam.

Ua alikom salam ua rahmatullah. If you are new in this religion and you want to learn the basics of this deen and even go further, university of Azhar is NOT the right place to go. If we want to talk about it in general this university DOES NOT by any means respects the Sunnah of the Prophet Alayhee salam. The teachings of the Muslim creed in the classrooms are mixed with greek phylosophy. I have kown from close many people who finished that school. Truly and sincerly before they studieds in that university their brains were just FINE, after their graduation you would hear abnormalities coming out of their mouths like never before. To verify my words just look at the famous "scholars" who graduate from Azhar. Not to mention their names these individulas not only made permisible music, cinema, but even Riba'a(usery). From the religious rulings that came out of that University today Muslims believe thay listing "muslim" music is ti just FINE. For the males to shave their beards it is just a disliked matter etc etc. There are better universites to study, so search.

Al Azhar is very good, or was I shall say. The problem with it is that with the government pressuring the Islamists it started intefering with Al Azhar A LOT so many of the sheiks there now are unfortanetly not worth being sheikh. So parts of al Azhar have gotten a bit corrupted. Not all, its not as DOris said, its by no means no that bad.
