we all know the feeling of eating after breaking our fast and quenching our thirst with water, especially if its been a long, hot day. i want you to stop for a moment and think: imagine never to be able to eat again.
think of all the flavours, textures and aromas that are associated with food. our mouth produces more saliva just at the thought and smell of food. what about you're favourite meal? im sure we all like cake and junk food too. imagine all that being taken away from you in an instant...
okay what im getting at is that i know of a little girl (11 years old) who has a paralysed intestine, im not sure of the medical term for this, but she has not been able to eat for two years. her condition is rare and her mother informed me that there are only seven or so like her in the world. she is such a brave little girl, would you be able to cope if this was you? what patience she has, surviving on parenteral nutrition (like baby puree') provided to her by the hospital.
we forget such basic blessings like this: the ability to eat and drink, the ability to pass urine with no problem - there are millions who can not, the ability to breathe freely without oxygen support, the ability to walk without assistance, the ability to see- just imagine living in darkness all you're life, never to be able to see the breath-taking sights of the Ka'abah, or niagra falls or the pyramids.
may Allah give us the ability to thank Him in good and abd times as He says: 'if you thank Me, i will give you more', who else does this except Allah? who else gives you more after you thank them? no-one but Allah.
Alhamdulilah ya Allah, we can not thank Him enough. we are drowning in His blessings.
