Assalamoalaikum,
Brothers and sisters.. What advice would you give to a person who has no appetite.. Who literally hates eating and wants to change......

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Know that we dont live to eat, We eat to live...

Translation of a saying by Companian Abu Bakr Asidiq (RA):"We folks don't eat unless we are hungry, And when we eat we don't get full".
"نحن قوم لا نأكل حتى نجوع وإذا أكلنا لا نشبع"

Strive to be Mukmin
To eat or not to eat....

:salam2:

Try fasting..........

Allah do command us to eat and drink but not to be wasteful

We do get rewards for eating and drinking to fulfill His commandment

We are human anyway we have to eat sometime.....

From the replies of the other members, I am confused about what you are really asking as some have suggested to fast. I understood that you have no appetite and want to change in the sense that you want to start eating.

From my experience, as I don't have a very big appetite either, if you dont eat, you will never have an appetite. The less you eat, the less appetite you will have. Simple as that. Eat so that your appetite becomes bigger. Health is a human's most valuable asset, and if you lose that, you can't achieve much in life.

I had a teacher in school, a very good Muslim man. He was very sick, as sick as you can imagine. He used to have very frequent operations and frequent hospital visits. He was my Economics teacher. And he always used to say, you give me your health, I will give you my knowledge, we will do a swap. I used to feel so sorry for him. May Allah (SWT) give him health. Aameen.

We must always remember that our body is an Amanah from Allah (SWT) and we will be questioned for it, so keep it well.

It is all in our hands. :)

exercising should open your appetite... the more energy you burn (exercising), the more energy you'll want (food)... also, peace of mind... usually, when you have no problems or worries, you exercise more and eat more... if you are taking any kind of medication that may affect your appetite?!

I guess if you're not loosing weight and your weight is normal, then just balance your diet (meat, veggies, fruits, and water) and you "cool":)... no need for excess of food...

If you want to build muscles or gain weight, then lifting weight would make you eat a lot and open your appetite until you empty your refrigerator :D... but you feel better :)

Salam

Is this a normal, regular feeling for you, or just something that has come up recently?

If it is normal, then try some of the suggestions made - exercise a bit more, drink more water or fortified drinks, or just eat a bit more at each meal (healthy foods, of course!)

If this has come up recently....

If you are otherwise feeling well, then maybe give it some time.

If you are NOT feeling well in general, I would suggest seeing a medical professional. There are certain illnesses that manifest themselves with lack of appetite.

It is better to get checked out and make sure there is nothing physically wrong rather than just wait and let a possible problem get worse.

Insha'Allah, it is nothing serious!

Once i wanted to go on a diet and i did for 2 days then my mom placed so much food on the table for my family and the smell and the look of the food got to me and a broke my diet.

Assalamoalaikum,
Thank you everyone for the response.. Its not that i hate food, but i think its the work of satan.. I tend to dislike the routine cuisines that my mum make, Alhamdulillah my sisters and all eat to glory.. And sometimes i am jealous LOL, yesterday mum made different dish just for me and i was full (for the first time in two weeks)
If i go to restaurant i am not the same person at home. Its just at home what my mum makes, and she keeps on telling me to eat eat EAT! AND I CAN'T

Wassalam
