    Asslam'u Alykum,

When Prophet Muhammad established first Islamic state in Madina, he laid out rules for Muslims and non-Muslims. I need to verify if a hadeeth (Prophet’s Saying) regarding this topic is authentic. It's told that at time, Prophet said, "Whoever harms a non-Muslim citizen (dhimmi) has harmed me." Can anyone shed some light on it?

    Wa’salaam

    :wasalam: bhai. :)

    i found this for you:

Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was reported to have said, “He who unfairly treats a non-Muslim who keeps a peace treaty with Muslims, or undermines his rights, or burdens him beyond his capacity, or takes something from him without his consent; then I am his opponent on the Day of Judgment” (Abu Dawud and Al-Bayhaqi).

He (peace and blessings be upon him) is also reported to have said, “He who harms a non-Muslim who keeps a peace treaty with Muslims has harmed me, and he who harms me has harmed Allah” (At-Tabarani in Al-Awsat with a good chain of transmission).

So hadeeth in the question is apparently correct, right? The part 'who keeps a peace treaty with Muslims' can be seen as an explaination or extention to describe that non-Muslim is loyal to Muslim population and the rules, and that is common sense to most people.

Thanks for looking into it. I had done a lot of research as well before posting this here, but had no such success. May Allah reward you abundantly, bhai (brother). :)

The prophet sallahu alyhi wassalam said: “Whoever kills one who is under and agreement of protection will not smell the fragrance of Paradise"
