Assalaamu 'alaykum!
During many of these celebrations, the masjid Imaams and the common folk march through the town in a parade in love of the Prophet (saw). This concept is incorrect from numerous angles. This causes disturbance to those who wish to use the public transport. I have personally seen how annoyed the Non-Muslims get when waiting in their cars for this parade to go past. And doing this in a Non-Muslim country is even more disastrous, as what message is this Non-Muslim getting? They already think Muslims are terrorists and extremists, now blocking traffic is not something we need.
You annoy the Non-Muslims, claiming your prophet was one of peace?! A Prophet of peace does not cause annoyance. We are even forbidden to recite the Quraan aloud such that it annoys others. So what about blocking traffic and causing mayhem in the streets?
Aboo Sa'eed narrated that the prophet (saw) said:
Note, the Prophet of peace did not cause disturbance!

Aboo Sa'eed narrated that the prophet (saw) said:
"Each of you remembers Allaah [in his own way], so do not disturb one another, nor raise your voices when reciting the Qur’aan." (In another narration) "when doing Salaah." [Aboo Daawood & Ahmad]
This is not the way to spread the message of Islaam. Da'wah requires wisdom and knowledge, yet these parades do not have wisdom, nor are they knowledge-based. During the time of the Prophet 9saw) the pagans accepted Islaam due to the behaviour of the Companions, yet during these marches you are causing more harm than good. Disturbing Non-Muslims is not the way to invite them to Islaam, and whoever thinks that is lacking in wisdom.
Note, the Prophet of peace did not cause disturbance!
