Assalamo alaikum
So it happened twice. The first incident took place in Portland Oregon and now the second incident took place in Chicago, Illinois. I am pre-judging that this will happen again in Palo Alto, California, which is my next planned trip after Chicago for this month.
These incidents were related to "http://www.zabihah.com/". According to website description, Zabihah finds halal food near your particular location.
I am currently staying at Palmer Hilton hotel. So i used the address of this hotel to find halal place around me. The closest halal place that I found was "Indian Curry House".
When I went to that restaurant, I was shocked to see Hindo religious pictures (like i guess their Gods etc). So I assumed that the restaurant is being operated and managed by non-muslims. And I guess I am correct in my assumption. I asked the waiter if the meet being served is halal. To which he replied "Yes". However I was not satisfied.
It seems that the zabihah.com which is devoted to find halal restaurants is merely running business. It has forgotten its values and have joined others who worship money. Under no circumstance (I may be wrong) I should have blindly relied on it to find halal food.
My experience with Zabihah has not been good at all..period...
Btw the food of that Indian restaurant was nice, but it was mad spicy. I tried my best but was only able to finish half of the plate. My body was unable to take more..lol..
Alhamdolillah today, I had the privilege to be with a diplomat. He drove me to some nice spots in chicago. We went to "Devon Avenue" which had some nice halal food restaurant. However my dinner was reserved in his house..and I enjoyed real halal food.
