Hell naw...

Something as precious as the oldest Holy Qu'ran should be put in a Museum. This is beyond any geniuine antique or any famous painting like the Mona Lisa. It's like selling Allah's word to make profit for yourself. How screwed up is that?

Salaam,

Two arguments can be made:

1) $2.3 million for a Quran?? What? That is way too cheap!! You are talking about The Book of all books - the source for attaining a complete way of life, guidance, attaining inner and outer peace, and truth. It should of definitely gone to a Islamic Museum.

2) I don't think you should auction a Quran to someone if they are interested in Islam. Unfortunately, these British buyers* are probably using it for other means.

Inshallah those British buyers will not use it as a something to make a profit out of, but instead read it and may Allah swt guide them. That is the best reward one can have in this life.

* Assuming they are are non-Muslims
