Room in the grave

Assalaam walaikum,

We are told that the room in the grave can be a room from heaven. We are told that if a Believer has respected the Earth; she will embrace him upon death.

As I wrote in an earlier post I seem to have an uncanny ability to attract janaza's. We have posts everywhere on jinns...I wonder what this is all about. It has gotten to the point that my sisters are teasing me about going outside. Here I am looking for a husband and all I attract are hearses. Makes me want to scratch my head a wee bit.

Back to topic...when we make dua we ask for a mansion in heaven as well as one in the grave..what are the specific dua to make for just wishing a little room in the grave, a room that rewards His Believers with.

Rasoolullah salla Allah alaihi wa sallam used to make quite often towards the end of his prayer : “Oh Allah, I take refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, from the torment of the Fire, from the trial of life and death and from the evil affliction of the Al-Maseeh Ad-Dajjal”

Rasoolullah salla Allah alaihi wa sallam said “Verily there is a pressing that occurs in the grave, if anyone could be saved from it, then Sa’d ibn Mu’adh would have been.”

*! The trial of the grave includes the questioning of the angels the disbelievers, evil-doers, and hypocrites cannot answer these questions (O Allah, save us )

Rewards in the grave

there are rewards and punishments in the grave, many of which are established through mutawatirah hadith (the most authentic kind of hadith).*! Examples of reward in the grave include:

widening of the grave
good company in the grave
light in the grave
having a comfortable, deep sleep
seeing one’s potential place in the Hell-fire, but then showing one’s true abode in paradise
telling of glad tidings

Assalaamu alaikum sis,

There is a brilliant book called Life in Al-Barzakh by Muhammad Al-Jibaaly (student of Sheikh Albaani) and this covers everything you need to know (and to scare yourself lol!). Goes into lots and lots of detail maasha'allah.
As for "if a believer has respected the Earth; she will embrace him upin death" i have never come across this, rather i have read about the 'squeezing' in the grave which no believer is exempt from, no matter how pious you are (exception was if i remember correctly 1 companion).

Do you have a reference for that inshallah?

And i have never read about asking for a mansion in the grave, the only duaa i have come across is the one you say after the tahasshud which is "Allahumma 'aouthoo bika min 'athaabil qabri, wa min 'athaabi jahanamma, wa min fitnatil wal-mamaati wa min sharri fitnatil maseehid-dajjal."

Which means: O Allah i seek refuge with you from the punishment of the grave, the punishment of the Hellfire, from the fitnah of this life and from the fitnah of the Dajjal."

Actually saying that sis, i know you can read this book for free online so check it out inshallah...

What do you mean by that sister?That is seriously scary!Even believers will not be exempted from Earth's sqeezing?In what context?In the context of punishment or something else?
That is just.. scary!

It is not a form of punishment, its just something we all have to experience.

"After burial, and before the trial starts, every dead person suffers a strong feeling of tightness: the grip of the grave.
It is as though the earth welcomes back its children with a painful hug.

Salman reported that the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said:

"Rub (your forehead) against the earth (during sujood), because it is kind (like a mother) to you." [verified to be authentic by Albaani]

This earth's hug is brief for a believer, but (as we will see in the next chapter) extends indefinitely for a nonbeliever.

Aisha, Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said:

"Indeed the earth has a grip (on people). If anyone was to escape from it, it would be Sa'd Bin Mu'ath; yet, he was squeezed once and then released." [verified to be authentic by Albaani]

Anas and Abu Ayyub reported that, during the child's funeral, the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said:

"If anyone were to escape the grave's hug, it would be this child." [verified to be authentic by Albaani]

Are the prophets and other highly righteous individuals spared from the grip of the grave? We do not know because we have no authentic texts in this regard."

:jazaak: the painful hug sounds scary though.May Allah make it easy for us.Ameen.
