salaam to all,i have a shia friend at work.we was talking the other day about the differences the two sects have.(im sunni).
he quoted me "whoever i am the lord of, then ali is the lord as well". this quotation was from a hadeeth by Ghadir Khum.how authentic?
(he said this quotation leads many shia to believe that Ali should have been the first caliph).
also they say that Abu Bakr usurped the inheritence of Fatima the daughter of the prophet.they say this action didnt make him suitable to be the leader of the muslims?
finally.....god appointinted the twelve imams to lead the muslims.anyone who chooses any other leader than these 12 is misguided and not a complete believer.
is there anything in the quran or sunnah which backs this statement up?
i turned round and said to him a sunni is not a complete muslim if he doesn't believe in Ali.i then asked him is a Shia a good muslim if he doesnt belive in the first 3 caliphas?
(we are all supposed to be one ummah.to many people are bringing innovation in to Islam). thanks!
