Nature isn't haraam, like scenes, plants etc.

But drawing animals and people is considered haraam as it imitates the creation of Allah, which is forbidden. There are some exceptions however, such as drawing a person but leaving the face blank, or only drawing a head but not the rest of the body etc.

So would this be considered haram? I am a new revert and was just wondering. This a mural in San Fransisco.

^ ukhti, I really can't decide if its haram or not. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can tell you, but there's one thing: that the person who drew this, really liked their art work, so they hung it up, admired it, other people admired it, and soon, next time, would the person decide to draw the full body? Trust me, I know drawing can be addicting. You draw a simple face one day, next time, you draw it more detailed, and then soon, you're saving up your drawings carefully, hanging them up, framing them, and before you know it it's become a habit and you start drawing in your spare time, more and more detailed.

There was an image maker in the Prophet's (SAW) time, who asked about this. And the Prophet (SAW) said "Every image maker will be in the fire." The image maker got scared, and asked that this is what he did for a profession, so what could he do? And Rasulallah (SAW) answered that if he must draw, then to draw inanimate things, such as rocks or trees, or water or nature or anything that 'doesn't have a soul.' So anything, except animals, insects, birds or people is allowed.

Also, Aishah (radhiallah taala anhu) once had hung up some curtains with pictures of animate objects in her room, and Rasulallah (SAW) came in and told her to remove the curtains and that "The angels of mercy do not enter a house where there is a dog or a picture, and that the person who made those pictures would be in the fire."

Therefore, ukhti, I'd refrain from drawing animate objects, especially if its just for fun and enjoyment. If its made to teach or instruct children, or as a children's storybook illustration, or a toy, then its okay to an extent.

You can find more detailed answers on islamqa.com.

    And Allah knows best.

making these pictures is my way of releasing stress and my intention is never to poeple to admire, but to enjoy. art is so pretty and meaningful. like a poem but without words. drawing nature is my way of remembering and admiring Allah because His creation is amazing, it can't even come close to how Amazing Allah is.

    Should I stop??
