In the video below, sheikh Al Afasy recites Sûrat Al-Ikhlâs ten times,
each using one of the ten recitation school recognized by Muslim scholars.
Each of the ten recitation have isnad (narration chain) to the Prophet PBUH. In addition,
these isnads come through twatur (i.e. it was related by so many trushworthy people
down the isnad chain to the Prophet Muhammad PBUH.) The recitation differ in the
vocalization of few words or letters. We should note here that all recitation follow the same Quranic
rasm (letter for letter) but only the vocalization is different. For example, the letter
"Ha" (say, the second letter in the first verse in Surat Maryam) would be pronounced Ha
in the narration of Hafs according to 'Asam, while it will be pronounced "Hey" in the narration of
Sho'bah according to 'Asim (as in the recitation by sheikh Mashari Al Afasy of Surat Maryam posted by brother Ameer (Mabsoot) )
In this forum, most recitations follow Hafs according to 'Asam (a popular narration)

Most ordinary people will learn to recite the Quran according to one narration. However, the difference
in recitation according to different narration may be unnoticable to ordinary people (even native speakers) and
only expert in recitation can recognize these difference. This show us how muslim scholars put every effort to preseve
everything related to Quran to reach us (although one narration would seems to be enough).
May Allah be please with them.
