Should we start using Films to spread our message?

Lately it seems that theres a lot of movies coming out that are speaking for certain groups.
The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas, Valkyrie, and Milk are all films backed and supported by special interests to forward their agenda. Should Muslims get into film to spread their message?

If it is strictly educational..how wouldn't it be?...

would it be any different from a lecture or show recorded on an Islamic channel or Islamic panel???

I think making films dealing with Islam should follow strict standards...they should be educational (like I stated)..and in compliance with sharia laws..

If that is accomplished...I say...

I think it would be a very wise idea...and we can even aim the films at our Muslim youth and Muslim societies as whole so we may address and correct the issues arising amongst them...and along with that aim films at non-Muslims to educate them and reveal to them the pure Islam...that we all know

The best and least costliest form of communication and most effective is writing a book. As the book becomes popular than some one will make a movie of it.

I don't think it should be a problem but really most people watch for entertainment. Islam is very serious, and not to taken as entertainment. You could possibly make a story of an individual and show good qualities of the actor portrayed as a muslim. A nice one would be how the people are deceived into think a muslim commited a crime when there was another person or persons that made it look that way. Moreover you can pick the good that muslims do the list will go on & on & on; there is no end to it.

just some ideas. In my opinion I think many muslim writers stay strictly to arabic and don't write in english many types of material that will instill the truth about Islam. writing is the key and should be implemented.

You use the internet don't you? Films and documentaries are good ways to get the truth out. Many people can watch a film at the same time, only one can read a book at the same time.

Alhumdulilah! Make the films, get them out and let the rest to Allah. If they make fun of us? Oh well, haven't they made fun of us for years? Hundreds of people watch the Youtube films, ok, so some say nasty and horrible things, so what? You can't run in the face of adversity....stand tall, get the truth out. If only one heart is changed due to a 100 films, then Alhumdulilah!

If you don't speak out (and I mean without rioting and screaming) then how can you defend your position responsibly?

i don't know if we need movies about islam, but i think getting into more documentaries would be better. because documentaries are about real lives whereas movies follow a script and has the aim or tends to sugarcoat things.

I like the idea of nyerekareem about making documentaries. They are truthful and can be a powerful message. However they are seen by far less people than large budget theatrical films. My intent behind the post and video is to have us start thinking of ways we could get into the arena of influencing minds and hearts on a more larger scale. Look at that Obsession video that went to millions of people just before the election. There has been very little of a response from us. Certainly we can do better. If we were to make a documentary, it would probably have to be in the Michael Moore / K. Spurlock tradition in order to get wider audience and the attention it deserves.

But I like that idea.
