Can any one help me to understand the benifit system. According to Islam you are only allowed to earn your wages through labour in that case signing on to the social welfare system is'nt Haram???? Many Asian decents especially Muslims who immigrate to Europe and US claim this.

Assalaam O alakum,

The social welfare has its criteria regardless of race or religion which is very good we should not missuse it that would be HARAM and cheating etc.

In Islam we also have Zakat which is for the needy, it is the same thing.

This is a complex issue to be honest - best to ask a scholar.

I will asnwer as best I can but it is my opinion from my understanding. Anything that is right is from Allah swt , anything wrong is from me.

It is a duty upon each muslim to earn a halal livelihood - meaning the men mostly who must provide for their wives and family. The wife does not have to earn a livelihood if she does not want to. But for all who earn a livelihood it must be from halal means.

We are taught to work for our money so that we should not take it for granted or cheat one another and we are told to give money in charity to those less fortunate.

I think that if a Muslim man is able to work in halal means then he should do this rahter than sign-on to the social system. If he signs on to the social system as he feels lazy or soemthing like that ( i.e he could work but chooses not to) then not only is he being deceitful ( as it is meant for those who genuinly cannot work), acting illegally maybe, but he is denying that money going to someone who may need it more than him. He is also POSSIBLY presenting the wrong image of Islam and not setting a good example for his kids. He is neglecting his duty in Islam. He is taking what is not rightfully his.He has let Shaytaan ( laziness, deceit) into his heart and once SHaytaan has one foot in the door it is hard to get him out if you know what I mean.

HOWEVER thats not to say that every Muslim who claims benefits is doing a bad thing - some maybe genuinly unable to work or support their families. Some maybe looking for work just not found it yet - theres loads of different circumstances and while its very easy to pass judgement we should not - we should not judge one another, that is only for Allah swt. Only he knows what is in someone's heart and what is true facts and individual circumstances.

As the brother said - we have similar in Islam - zakat so accpeting help if you need it is not a bad things in any shape or form. But taking what is not due to you or rightfully yours is where things can go wrong.

As I said - just my understanding, I would advise if you want a full answer to ask a scholar insha'allah

Wa alaykum salam,

Muslims must abide by the laws in the lands they are living in.

We respect all the laws of the UK or the USA or wherever else we live. This is as long as those laws do not prevent us from worshipping Allah and following our faith. :salah:

With regards to Social Benefit, as some of us are born in these countries and we are British or American citizens it is our right. However, it is haram to abuse our Rights by lying or cheating the system. i.e. benefit fraud.

As Muslims we must be the most honourable, so we should work hard in all things and be the best. inshaAllah

There are some people who are extremists and are ignorant of Islam and they go around calling everything halal haram without any understanding, so we must be careful of those people.

Assalamu Allikkum, Many thanks to all who have responded to this question. I am not intending to call it Halal or Haram. I live in Uk and many Muslims here immigrate with view to sign on to this benifit sysytem. I think it is not halal for people whao are healthy and capable of working and able to meet their ends..ie: not luxuries.

If we live in a country we shud follow the rules that coutry, true at the same time we shud expose our goodcharacter by working hard and earning. If anyones health doesn't permit then by all means it is allowed. In Quran Allah says MY Earth is very wide u can go and live any were .So If u can't live in some place becuse of the law is against and you can't fight it then U shud travel.

Similar rules apply to Bank intrest aswell I suppose, You are allowed to be rich but you got earn it by putting real effort not by piling up it in the bank and seek intrest. I would like to hear others view on it.

السلام عليكم Brothers, Sisters Sons and Daughters by the name of ALLAH the most gracious the most merciful. I say my opinion in this article of Social Security Money and ask ALLAH to forgive me.
Zakat means help needy. It was (Fard فرض) an obligation for Muslims to share empathy and compassion with the poors. With regards the social security benefits, it is a money given by a government and set by mostly not Sharia (the Islamic law and Mohammed council and teaching).
It is worse for those who leave their ancestors homes seek in refuge in a foreign land and getting money without sweating for it. It is a great same for Muslim to deny the wealth of (Iman إيمان) faith.
I know people who get cash in hand and pretend they are sick to rip the country funds.
Do not let the power of money manipulate your souls and brains. Work harder for your money if you are fit. LIVE ON HALAL!
