hold on to your Iman
Salam Walaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh, sister Carolyn. I just wanted to say that i understand what your going through. I also converted to Islam and I went through the same thing that you went through for a while i felt like I was living a double life. What helped me is that I remembered that Allah (subhana wa tala), guided me to this beautiful way of life. And he has guided you too. He chose you for a reason, and if you make some efforts to practise islam, youl be amazed at how much Allah (swt) will aid you and make things so much easier for you. So you should turn to him and ask him to give you the strength to wear hijab. And actually one thing that I found when I finally started wearing hijab, was people didnt react badly towards. I think the struggle is mostly in ourselves, the general public doesnt really care. Your family might be a little wierded out at first but once they see that you are still the same person, and chances are your probably even a better person, theyl accept the changes that youve made. You might even inspire someone to become muslim.
Our creator has more love and more patience with us than we can really imagine, but another thing to remember is that he doesnt really need us to do anything, He will continue to be greatest weather your in hijab or not. But when we feel bad about not doing something that he has recomended for us its because we know we are cheating ourselves out of something so beautiful. Something from Allah subhana wa tala. I encourage you to hold on to your Iman, and always try to increase it, and at some point things that you thought were really difficult, will become so light, InshaAllah. I hope Allah guides us all ever closer to him, InshaAllah.
Take care, and best of luck.
Salaam walaykum
