Asslamo Allaikum,

I wanted to organise the Poll a little bit better but couldn't because there were ONLY 10 choices...I should have asked the Admins to help me better organise it!

The million dollar (or pound in UK) question is that I did it in good humour however if anyone thinks that they really have an addiction (eating, sleeping, web, fitness) then evaluate your situation and get out of it

And yes addiction can be of many kinds and all (except 1 on the poll) can consume your live negatively; I hope all realise that

OK. OK! Brothers/Sisters! I will now stop the grandpa preachin

Well can you guys tell me the reason behind the addiction to snicker? Because one of my friends had that addition too when he was in saudi. I had the addiction to eating when I was back home.I remember if there was any marriage or get togethers, me and my cousin were the ones who would look after the food stuffs.Biryanis, sweets, tandoori chicken, beef kofta, kabab, and lot more. Fondful memories of the past. Although I have controlled my eating, Alhamdulillah but I can go on reading as much I want. I know I have to control everything, as that only will make a muslim more better. We should not exceed in anything we do.

Snickers Addiction

Asslamo Allaikum,

Its called Sugar rush...

Look at the label of snickers at the amount of Carbohydrates (I think its around 50-60gm) and then compare it to what a normal human should have on a daily basis NOT to gain weight (less then 25gm)

Choclates are a SUPERB stress releif because of huge amounts of Sugars (gives you a high; a boost) BUT what most Muslims don't realise is that Honey does the same thing in a far better way i.e. Honey has simple sugars which digest easier rather then complex carbs like Snickers...

You should actually see what happens to your INSULIN levels when you eat a bar of choclate! (Its horrible) & then people complain about weight gain...

Weight loss is the easiest thing in the World if you control what you eat (Please note that I am NOT saying how much rather WHAT you eat).

Asslamo Allaikum,

One of the brothers I know went on a fitness spree early last year….he used to religiously (I will explain this later) go to the Gym; run for 45 minutes and then have a whole Yazoo (bottled milkshake) drink and then he was surprised that he never lost weight….

I still have a dig at him about his workout routine & then overloading himself with Carbohydrates…but does he get the point; definitely NOT!

I gave up the Gym thing for months; but planning to start back up soon (so he tells me)

P.S: Religiously = Brother bought a MP3 player so he could drown out the music & he used to go after Faj’ar so there wouldn’t be any women there…

Hmmm I wish I could put something honorable like reading Quran but it wouldn't be true....I don't own a Quran yet. :(

But for now my addiction is definately being on the internet chatting. It's basically my only outlet while out of country at medical school. Although I LOVE studying up on Fiqh and Hadith right now.....I just am trying to understand the science behind Hadith presently.

And I must say...eating is in a close second place..I love sweets. :shymuslima1:
