Striving For Jannah
Okay well most of my friends, when they get engaged, they hang out, and go out places and stuff.
But i was talking to my mother today and she said that isnt allowed in Islam. Not unless they are married, by the katb il kitab.
Apparently, engagement parties are in total contradictory to the sunnah.
This website i found says that engagement parties arent islamic, neither is the tradition of the guy putting the ring on the girls finger in front of other people.

So, i need your help because i want to know more detailed information on this. Can somebody help me. I want to find some good hadiths and ayas from the Quran pertaining to this subject.
