Something to think about

Mirajmom
Assalaam walaikum,

I just read this and found it to be so profound I had to share it with you:

Rather it was the allegiance to Allah and the severance from all that is worshiped
beside him which was the word enduring after him passed down through the prophets
and their followers, one after the other.

It is the `word', 'there is no god but Allah', the
heritage of Abraham until the Day of Resurrection".

Assalaam walaikum,

Brother,

It is rather that the Prophet Ibrahim, is the example we are given in the Quran to follow. Was the Prophet, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,
not instructed to follow Ibrahim.

Say (O Muhammad)" 'Allah has spoken the truth; so follow the religion
of Abraham Hanifan. Indeed he was not of Al-Mushrikun' ( Aal-Imraan, verse:95.)

I was just awe struck by the words. Yes, all the Prophets of Allah Believe. It is for us to think and make firmer our faith.

Wa-alaikum assalam,

Someone who knows better than myself should post here, but I wanted to simply advise caution with regards to the emboldened statement.

The references to Ibraheem alayhissalam in the Qur'aan as an example to follow is not in terms of the Shari'ah which Mohammad :saw2: received which is unique, it is applicable to our time. Also, when it comes to the example to actually follow, we look to none other than Mohammad :saw2:'s sunnah and we implement this.

Ofcourse Mohammad :saw2: did follow Ibraheem alayhissalam in terms of the message of tawheed that he spread, but Ibraheem alayhisalam is mentioned in the Qur'aan as someone to 'follow' so as to emphasise the Tawheed factor, the word haneef is there to impress upon readers the fact that Ibraheem alayhisalam was not a polytheist.

You're right in the general sense, I'm sure you probably already understood what I'm posting, but I thought it should be highlighted because it would be wrong to read the above (perhaps non-Muslim members?) and assume that the Sunnah of Ibraheem alayhisalam is to be followed over the Sunnah of Mohammad :saw2:.

Mirajmom
Assalaam walaikum,

Yes, sister.

As I wrote earlier I was stuck by the words. We, are the lucky ones. We have our Prophet. We were given our Prophet. In simple words we hit the jackpot.

I was merely looking at our great history. Allah subhana wal taala has given everyone the Message. And we can see how faithful was Hazart Ibrahim to Allah.

This just strengthens our faith. It is a complement to our Sunnah. That is the reason I pasted the quote and reference to the Quran.

And I am glad you pointed out that the non-Muslim may get confused. That is not my purpose at all. I was just rejoicing at the heritage of Islam.

When we discuss the Miraj of the Prophet it amazes me that two of the prophets addressed our Messenger as son. Adam and Ibrahim.

Musa addressed him as brother.

That is something to think about.
