Stuck with interest

What do I do? What do I do?

I'm not earning currently. I have a few thousands from my previous job that are in a bank account, and I'm trying to get rid of all the interest from that account, but that account is joined with my brother's and mother's name and their money, and they think I'm a fanatic because I want to get rid of this interest money, and was calculating things, etc.

Secondly, I talked to my father, and was advising him to do the same on all his accounts, but he clearly refused and said he didn't believe that the Quran means present day interest.

The thing is, that my father has several accounts, even though I have none of my personal money in them, yet, he's added my name to them as a joint account holder, and now I feel so trapped. I want to get rid of the money, but I'm finding it so difficult. To me, this is a major major distress and I've been completely depressed since a few days. What can the solution be? If I don't have my own money, and yet, my name is in there, I don't touch that money or anything, yet am I responsible too??

why dont u try to make ur own account. i use to get interest. i told them i didnt want it so they got rid of it. never spend on interst money

I'm going to do that now. But should I also insist on removing my name from my dad's other accounts, because that is really saddening/angering him, and basically forming a cold wall in the family.

Stopping interest in current accounts is relatively easy. I have done it with mine, though that is Natwest (assuming you're in the UK). It is also possible to donate the money earned through interest, though you should not do so with the intention of reward. In any case, i would advise you to seek scholarly counsel in regards to both your questions. i.e. getting rid of interest money and also whether you are responsible for your father's accounts. It would be easy for us to give you our opinions, but it would be far better to get some scholarly input.

i am giving u a freindly adivice.
u dont have to remove ur name at all, just make sure that ur halal money is in ur new account and leave the rest for ur dad. and keep earning halal income. keep in mind that allah loves those who earn halal income and may allah help you!
