Ok so here's another question because somebody asked me this and I didn't know the answer to it:
Since it is haraam to work in a bank as we're dealing or selling forms of interest and since it is haraam to sell alcohol in a restaurant is it haraam to work in a supermarket because they sell pork and ham and alcohol?

Also since it is haraam to eat animals that have been killed unislamically can we wear clothes such as fur, leather as non-muslims have killed animals and used their skin for clothes?

Sorry for being inquisitive all the time!!

Jazakallahu khayran. it's soooo hard to find a well paid job that doesn't involve any haraam! I didn't know that working in an insurance company is haraam because it's a form of gambling and I was so happy when I got the job so now I just need to do istikhara to ask Allah to guide me insha'allah! I don't know where else to apply that relates to my course and i need money too!! oh what a pickle im in! sorry for babbling on! just needed to let it out! jazakallahu khayran again.

I can totally relate to you, I hear ya! I was over he moon when I got my current job, its so close to where I live, pays way above average...but unfortunately it turned out to be haram coz I sell pork. Who knows, maybe it's halal but inshala Im planning on giving it up by next week for the sake of Allah sw. You know we feel sooo good when we do something for the sake of Allah sw, especially knowing that Allah sw is the Appreciator and the Provider. Do something for Allah sw and Im sure Allah sw will pay you back many times over.

Getting a decent halal job, especially here in the US is difficult enough as it is, mashallah, unless you live in a all muslim country. If this is the only job that the brother can get, then Allah knows what is in his heart and his intention behind it. Maybe it is the ONLY job he can get right now to feed his family and provide at the moment, subhanallah. Lets not judge anyone, who are we to do that when Allah is the best of Judges? We can even eat pork by necessity if we need to, to keep from starving, subhanallah!! Allah is Merciful and Forgiving, Alhamdullilah. It might be this or him being on the street, we don't know his situation. Allahu Alim!:blackhijab:

I think when we're put in this situation the best thing to do is istikhara. My friend once did istikhara about which college she should go to, a mixed one or an all girls one. She saw a dream and she felt it really heavily in her heart to go to the mixed one. I guess this turned out to be the best option since the mixed college had a much better education than the all girls one and she came out with excellent grades masha'allah. I always say Allah works in mysterious ways! This could be the same with the job issue which is why i think it's actually vital to do istikhara because maybe if something is not right to do Allah may think differently about it as He knows best.
