SUPPORTING THE PEOPLE OF GAZA
By now you will have witnessed the horrific scenes of murder and
devastation in Gaza at the hands of the Israeli army. There has
been widespread revulsion and condemnation of this massacre but
there is also a sense of helplessness from people around the
world who feel they are unable to do anything about it. Here
is a reminder of a few things that we can and should do.
* Pray sincerely for our brothers and sisters at every opportunity.
We must not underestimate the power of du'a. In times like these,
when we feel we have little or no control over what is happening,
who else can we turn other than Allah, the Possessor of All Control
and Power.
* Donate money through trustworthy channels. The people in Gaza
are desperately in need of funds for medical aid, water and food.
There are various charities that you can donate to, including:

* Actively learn and become more familiar with the facts about
the situation in Palestine. Convey this information to others
and raise awareness through the various media channels you have
access to.
* Join a peaceful protest and let your voice be heard, both by
the UK Government, and the leaders of Muslim majority countries
who watch passively as the Israeli military machine carries out
its actions unchallenged.
* Apply pressure on the Government and those in authority through
different means to get them to condemn the Israeli government and
stop giving it diplomatic cover to continue its destruction with
impunity.
We pray that Allah, the Ever Merciful, relieves the suffering of
the people of Gaza. May He strengthen their morale, increase their
iman and restore their dignity. We beg Allah that He grants them
patience, steadfastness and unity in these times of distress. We
ask Allah, the Pardoner, to forgive those who have been martyred,
elevate their status in the Hereafter, and ease the pain of their
loved ones.
We ask Allah, the All Powerful, to destroy the Zionist aggressors
whose oppression of innocent men, women and children knows no
bounds. We pray that He brings defeat and humiliation to them in
a way that befits their cowardly actions. We beg Allah that He
grants us confidence, ability and guidance in order to assist our
brothers and sisters in Gaza by whatever legitimate means are
available. May He awaken those in authority who watch impotently
and shamelessly, and enable them to act in support of the people
of Gaza. Finally, we ask Allah that He assists all those who are
suffering oppression, injustice and hardship around the world.
The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: "Whosoever amongst you sees an
evil action, let him change it with his hand, and if he is unable
to do that, then he should do so with his tongue, and if he is
unable to do even that, then he should at least abhor it from his
heart; and that is the least of faith." (Sahih Muslim
