this is an article i wrote i my website, that i wanted to share with TTI.
very often i get questioned by non-muslims about the quran and the lack of miracles contained in the quran. they wonder why aren’t there many miracles in the quran. yes, it’s true that the quran doesn’t contain the same colorful miracles that people will find in the Old and New Testaments of the bible. but do miracles signify legitimacy and truth in religion? even the biblical Jesus mentioned in the numerous gospels that many will come and perform miracles in God’s name and those people will be false and even have the ability to foll his followers. so, healing blind people or walking on water doesn’t mean that these miracles are the epitome of faith.
they don’t realize the greatest miracle of the quran. what is this miracle of the quran? it’s quite easy, it’s the very quran itself!! yes, the quran is the miracle. it may seem presumptuous to some, but here’s a scenario to prove it:
imagine if an evil dictator came to rule the world. this dictator not only hates islam, but he hates all religions. so one day he decides to destroy all of the religious texts in the world in book or electronic form. the jews are upset because all of their history is destroyed. the christians are upset because they don’t know what to talk about on sunday. every religious group is heartbroken, all except the muslims. in anger the other religious groups yell at the muslims “ how come you aren’t upset, can’t you see that all of our texts are destroyed? “ the muslim replies “ no “ so they wonder why he isn’t upset. they begin to ask themselves whether or not muslims have secret stashes of the quran out there. the muslim then tells them, that the evil dictator can burn,shred, throw all of the qurans in the ocean if he wants to; it doesn’t matter. it doesn’t matter because there are 20 million muslims that remember the quran word for word dot to dot. we can rewrite the entire quran in a matter of days, and still keep it preserved as if it was revealed yesterday. SubhanAllah, what group can say that about their text? there are no jews in the world that remember the tanakh in it’s entirety. no christians that can remember both the old and new testaments in their entirety. no hindu can remember all of their sacred scriptures in their entirety. ah, only one group can, and that is the muslims. the quran will prevail when the others fall. it is in our hearts, minds, bodies and souls. indeed this is the greatest of miracles, the true preservation of God’s words to mankind!! all of the miracles in the other texts died when they were thrown in the ocean,burnt, or shredded. but our miracle will live on.
