In a class of students, a teacher asks one of the students if he will believe that she(the teacher) has an apple inside her drawer. The student knowing his teacher never lies immediately responses with a "Yes!". The teacher then told that student that it is because of his faith in her that he believes her.
She then asks her student to come up to her desk and open the drawer and hold the apple in his hand. He obediently does so. Now the teacher tells him you have yaqeen (certainty) that I was telling the truth.
This is how yaqeen (certainty) is a higher level of iman (faith). Yaqeen is when you are absolutely certain about something. This is the level of iman we need to build when thinking about the Hour. The Hour that will come soon most certainly. The Hour which will destruct the sea, the mountains, and all that contains in the belly of this earth:
Verse 3: " And when the mountains shall made to pass away"
Verse 6: " And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow"
(Surah At Takwir)
The Hour when it will only be nafsi nafsi! We will only be concerned, fearful, anxious about our own result. We will forget about those who were beloved to us in this world be it our brother, mother, father, children or wife:
Verse 34: "That Day shall a man flee from his brother"
Verse 35: "And from his mother and his father"
Verse 36: "And from his wife and his children"
Verse 37: "Every man, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others"
(Surah Abasa)
If we have that Yaqeen on the Day of Resurrection, By Allah we will be successful in this dunya and the aakhira. We will live each day and each moment productively, striving to add good 'amal (deeds) in the Book of our deeds which the noble angels are constantly recording.
Lets all wake up and be active in our lives, in our families and in our society. Lets make a difference in this world before our time ends on us! Lets have iman building exercises with our family and friends! Lets spread more and more knowledge and gain more and more wisdom! We can in our own way always add khair in the world we live in! And it will IN SHA ALLAH be Sadqa Jaariyah for you! Never forget that death may come to us at any time and any age, and we have to gather more and more good to secure our khatma (end) to secure our aakhira.
May we all be saved from the torments of the grave and hell fire and may the Day of Resurrection bring us glad tidings Ameen Suma Ameen
