salam alaikum

i am an american who converted to islam almost three years ago. do not believe what this "person" has told you. you do not have to go to a special quran school in the middle east to be able to read the quran properly. with enough dedication and discipline allah will help you. i learned how to read the quran with tajweed by myself. i will not lie it was hard but i have mastered it because i spent every day and night trying to perfect the way i read arabic and recited the quran.
