Were you a victim?

Assalamu Aleikom everyone

I am writing a paper for Sociology and the topic is Hate Crimes based on Religion I cannot write about particular stories...the paper has to be more or less and overall view with statistics and effects on society so I am asking you all.

I was wondering if any of you have been a victim of a hate crime because you are Muslim?

If so, how did it affect your daily life?(were you able to work? go to school?)

Did it strengthen your faith?

Did it make you second guess wearing your Hijab or your traditional clothing? (or moving out of the country?)

If you don't mind sharing, I would like to hear about it just to get an idea of how hate crimes affect people in different ways.

I have never experienced any hate crimes because I am Muslim...but I am a failry new one and most people do not know that I am.

I do know of someone who owns a few very good Middle Eastern Rest. here and after 9/11 his store and rest. was burned down. It affected a lot of elderly people, and people without transportation in the area who relied on them for their needs.

Thanks to anyone who is willing to share :)

I have been a victim of hate crime because of religion. i'm a teenager and just last summer a man who is middle aged followed me into the store, and to every aisle i went into. he kept saying to me "Allah sucks, Allah sucks" astaghfirullah. also my gym teacher tried to force me to hold hands with boys and to wear pants while i had told him that our religion forbids it. another time... i was told by my peers to stop speaking my language. i got into a fight and the blame was on me. the counselors told me " honey calm down. your just upset, they're just kids" this was last year.
