What does the name Daniya mean?

As Salamu Alaikum
Can someone pls tell me the proper source of the name Daniya? What does it mean & is it an appropriate name? Somebody told me it's not a proper name, it comes in the Quran as 'Qutoofuha daniya' which means closer to the earth; downfall; but i'm confused because there are so many ppl who name their girls Daniya. Jazakumullah.
