Allah says in the quran : " And hold fast, all togother , by the rope which allah (streteches out for you),and be not divided among yourselves " 'alquran 3:103=
Islam is always streesing the point of unity and group in hope to avoid fitna and assure stability and consensus among the believers . throughout the last decadeds muslims have suffered from weakness and division .this situation is like a body having many diseases .in hope to cure these illnesses killing the body of muslims no one daered to make a complete and rationale scanning of the whole body ,instead all they do is taking calming drugs .
if we cast our memories back to the siatuation of our muslim "ummah" in the great times of our prophet and his companions we would see a concrete example of justice , unity and balance in all field of life . why dont muslims take the morals and lessons from those great teachers of the "salaf " ....why looking for the remdies from the outside of the treasures we got ..why looking for the soultions of ourt problems f'rom Europeans or ameicans ?
some might think that the leaders of the muslim world are behind the divisiontaking place .
i would say no . the division is much more subconscious than it is conscious .most of the msulims care about their daily concerns and not about the unity of the ummah . the ummah is you and me all the muslims of the world . evry single muslims will be judged before Allah for this division that's why we have to work hand in hand and get over all the geographical borders to attain a complete unity of muslims .
May allah bless youall dearest brothers and sister .
happy ramadan full of joy and lots of "ajer" and salvation from fire.

Ameen to all of that. It is very true that we have this problem nowadays - I think it is possibly one of the signs of the last days when brothers forsake one another ( and sisters) The Sahaba RA had a unity that was so strong masha'allah - they were not afraid to show emotion to one another. Nowadays our Ummah has problems even giving salaam to one another on the street :( and we are ruled by our minds and not our hearts - and our minds are filled with the Duniyah - we have become selfish. This is what this world does to you when you make it your priority and lose sight of the importance and reality of the HereAfter. Another probelm I believe we have is lack of education of Islam -Islam is passed from generation to generation in name a lot nowadays and is not taught and explained - some people know they are muslim but they dont know why muslim is better or what it is. They dont KNOW Allah swt - it is just another religion to them - they do not know it as the Truth that it is. And so their iman is weak and they become even more wrapped up in the temptations of the Duniyah - unfortunatly all that glitters is not gold.

This Ramadan lets all make concerted effort to make du'a for the Ummah - if everyone in the Ummah made a du'a at the time of breaking fast ( iftar) to bring unity back to the Ummah the effects would be amazing insha'allah.

Asalaamalikum,

You couldn't have said it any better brother.

The Sahaabah (Companions of the Prophet saw, may Allah be pleased with them) adhered very closely to this path, and thus Allah protected the followers of Islam from splitting in this blameworthy manner.

They were followed in that by the Taabi’een (the generation that followed the generation of the Sahaabah, may Allah have mercy on them), but some internal and external factors led to the emergence of some reprehensible divisions following the three best generations. Among the external causes of that were:

Mixing with other, non-Muslim nations, such as the Persians, Romans, Indians and Greeks, and contact with other religious groups such as Jews, Christians, Sabians, Magians, Indian religions and others.

Among the internal causes were:

Following whims and desires, giving room to doubts, turning away from learning the religion and sharee’ah of Allaah, ignorance, extremism, imitation of non-Muslims, and adding cultural practices to the religion which lead to bidah (innovation).

All of these reasons, and others, led to some small groups splitting from the right path which the majority of the Muslims followed, so there emerged some groups, innovations and opinions that differed from the path of the Prophet saw and his Companions, and the Taabi’een and those who followed their path.

Also Allah warned us about making division in Islam and creating sects

30:32 Those who split up their religion, and become (mere) Sects,- each party rejoicing in that which is with itself!

30:34 (As if) to show their ingratitude for the (favours) We have bestowed on them! Then enjoy (your brief day); but soon will ye know (your folly).

May Allah swt unite ALL Muslims
