Alhumdulillah, tomorrow I finally write my exam on a World Religion study course I began last year. It covers everything from Aboriginal to Islam. I began this course prior to making Shahada during Ramadan although I was already in study of Islam for the year prior. I've learned many lessons throughout this course on the history of religion but the most important lesson I learned was how imperative Islam and the Muslim way of Life is to the world. To a Muslim born this is a no brainer to hear this, to a Non Muslim born is somewhat of a journey of realization although of course with the true faith in Allah Subana wa Ta'ala and his guidance there is no convincing needed that Islam is the truth and the righteous path, I was just in need of a briefing of an educational background of where and why things have their place in the world and where it began for them, as we already know where it began for us.
I wrote an essay on some core beliefs answering a mantra of one of the religions in the early part of my studies. I realized after re reading it as I do my final study why in society as a whole the Qur'an and the Hadiths are the Survival Guides. I thought I'd share some of my earlier thoughts on how I perceived life and religion before I was given the way of truth. There are similarities to Islamic beliefs but as I continue studying Islam
I am growing in my understanding of the mind, body and soul.
"Good thoughts, Good words, and Good deeds"
There is only one way back to God and this is to stay on the side of righteousness by good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. Following this mantra is the easiest way to base the meaning of doing the work of God, gaining a God conscience which ultimately leads a person on the path to God. Falling short of these traits could have a person fall short leading them to Hell.
We are conceived into one state of consciousness and born into another. From there progression of our mind, body and soul begins evolving according to our environment we did not as humans choose of free will instead placed into by the will of God. We are taught right from wrong by our parents or guardians and to their ideas, experience or upbringing of what is right and wrong. We do not have free will to decide on the answers at a young age but gain free will asking the question why at a young age. Once we begin into teen maturity we take what we were given against our human free will, namely our environment and the advice we are given, to have good thoughts, good words, and good deeds which is the will of God that contributes a major role of our development as adults and the free will choice we will make as citizens and raising our own children. We choose to break the cycle if we feel a change is necessary or we continue on the same path we were taught by our parents or guardians free will choice, given to us, by them. We need to remember the will of God not necessarily our parent’s will if we want our free will and find the straight path back to God.
“Too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the broth” is a phrase that comes to mind when thinking why one sacred symbol is necessary to create a world based on good thoughts, good works, and good deeds. Most religions agree there is only one God therefore only one common symbol in the world there should be to express God. Without one we have many and many leads to confusion of what is the good vs. what is the evil creating war and peace in a continuous cycle of no end and no new beginning.
The innocence of birth gives us opportunity to begin our cycle of milestones as we begin our unique individual process of evolution. Evolution does not begin and end in the mind, that is a learned process given our ability, surroundings and tools to grow with educational milestones. Evolution doesn’t begin and end with the body, that is only skeletal growth and humans can only grow according to their genetic makeup. True evolution begins and ends with the soul. Good thoughts, good works and good deeds begin the process with prayer, repentance and improvement and change of oneself through reflection leading us back or keeping us at the age of the innocence of birth I believe is our one true milestone. When a person doesn’t apply these three basic rules in their life the soul and their one milestone they were given keeps us from completing the cycle that originally was never intended to end.
