won't it be open from the top??

[Seeking Allah's Mercy]

:salam2:wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh!!

إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ ﴿٨﴾ فِي عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ (surah alhumaza-aya-8,9)

lo!it is closed on them.in outsretched columns


so acorrding to this ayah will hell be like a furnance??it says lid will be closed on them in urdu translations i got at home??

but i was under the impression that jahanum(may ALLAH grant us HIS protection from it)will be open from above as it says here ppl will be tossed up by the fire and angels will whip them back..........ASTAGFIRULLAH!!

[كُلَّمَآ أَرَادُواْ أَن يَخْرُجُواْ مِنْهَا مِنْ غَمٍّ أُعِيدُواْ فِيهَا]


Every time they seek to get away therefrom, from anguish, they will be driven back therein) (22:22). Al-Fudayl bin `Iyad said: "By Allah, their hands will be tied, their feet will be chained, the flames will lift them up and the angels will strike them.

A better translation would be,
"Verily, it is upon them locked.
In extended columns." (104:8-9)

That is, they can't get out. Whether that is because angels keep shoving them back down or because a lid closes up on them or because they cannot climb up those extended columns is immaterial. They won't be able to get out even if they tried. May God save us and our loved ones from His torment.

jazakallah khairan for your answer akhi,it makes sense now.about the ppl in hell not being able to get rid of their torment.(may ALLAH protect us all).but a general one,is it described as open one or lidded...........or is it in ghayb things??sorry just curious!!
