A quote close to my heart. :)

Ibn Al Qayyim (May Allah have mercy on his soul) says: Sincerity cannot coexist in a heart that contains the love of praise and commendation and the yearning to possess that which is owned by the people save in the manner that fire and water or a lizard and fish may coexist. If your soul directs you to seek sincerity then first turn your attention towards your yearning and slaughter it with the knife of renunciation. Then turn your attention towards praise and commendation and forsake it with the asceticism of those who loved the world for the sake of the Hereafter. When your slaughtering of your yearning and the renunciation of praise and commendation becomes firm then attaining sincerity will become easy for you.

"The prerequisites of sound repentance include a special kind of humility in one's heart that does not resemble any other feeling, because it only occurs to the sinful slave. Such a feeling cannot be obtained through hunger, or mere love. Rather, it is a feeling beyond all of this. It breaks the heart completely, grabs it, and throws it humbly in front of the Lord."

~ Ibn al Qayyim, rahimahullah.

"Truly in the heart, there is a void that cannot be removed except with the company of Allah. And in it, there is sadness that cannot be removed except with the happiness of knowing Allah and being true to Him. And in it, there is an emptiness that cannot be filled except with love for Him and by turning to Him and always remembering Him. And if a person were given all of the world and what is in it, it would not fill this emptiness."

~ Ibn al Qayyim, may Allah sanctify his soul.

"Words are only approximations of the depth of meaning we hold in our hearts. The true language is the language of the hearts. Hearts are always speaking. And for those who hear that language, understanding has nothing to do with words."

^ That's so beautiful, melted my heart :)

As did this: "The strength of one's hayaa and shyness relies on the strength of one's heart." (Ibn al Qayyim, rahimahullah).
