Zakah: is the third pillar of Islam and comes directly after Salat. The importance of Zakat can be realized from the fact that 82 verses of the Holy Quran mention Zakat along with the Salat.
Such as:
· Establish regular Prayer and give Zakat [73.20]
· Establish regular Prayer and give Zakat; and obey Allah and his messenger [33.33]
· Be steadfast in Prayer; give Zakat, and bow down your heads with those who bow down. [2.43]
Paying of Zakat is obligatory on anyone who possess wealth at (or above) a prescribed level, Nisab. According to Islamic scholars, if anyone does not pay Zakat despite being a Sahib-e-Nisab, means that he is denying Allahs commands and is considered a disbeliever and is subject to sever punishment on the Day of Judgment.
