Zaqqum in the Holy Quran

I was just reading the Holy Quran and came across the phrase "accursed tree" in 17:61. It is explained that this is the Zaqqum (oleander) tree and in further reading I found out that Zaqqum is mentioned later in the Quran as the fruit of the Jahannam.
Oleander (zaqqum) is used as an experimental drug in cancer treatment. It was first introduced by Hasan Ziya Ozel, a Turkish MD, and was at the time a little controversial as much as I know.
If anybody has more information about the Zaqqum tree as it is mentioned in the Quran, could they please elaborate on it?

You can find more information on the medicinal use of the oleander extract here:

Thanks to all brothers and sisters. Salam!

Mention of Diseases in the Holy Quran

In addition to Cancer, apparently oleander is now being tried for AIDS as well.

AIDS for example can be interpreted as a punishment to those who performs haram sexual activites, sort of like hell fire on earth. It is then easy to make the link b/w Zaqqum (oleander), the trees of Jahannam, and AIDS.

Is there anything in the Quran that mentions cancer, its risks factors/causes or carcinogenesis (the creation of cancer)?
