Points mentioned throughout the lecture:
- Avoid free-mixing and khulawah (being alone with the opposite gender). Allah says in the Quran, "O you who believe, don't follow the footsteps of Shaytan". So we must be cautious because Shaytan will lead us to haram step-by-step, if we step outside the boundaries of Islam.
- People question why men and women are separated in Islam. Know that the Sharia is made in a way that will protect you physically and will protect your honor. It's also geared towards what will benefit you not that which you think will benefit yourself. Allah knows what is best for us!
- Prophet Muhammed (sallahu alayhi wassalam) said, "Beware of the dunya & beware of women". Notice the connection between the two. This is because Allah has created men to desire women. Women are a fitnah for men. Even if a woman is in full hijab, men will start to imagine...Shaytan will put all sort of things in his head. A woman is awrah from head to toe. When she walks outside of her home, Shaytan follows her. The best way a woman can be closest to Allah is when she's at home. Prophet Muhammed (sallahu alayahi wassalam) did allow women to go the masjid; however, he (sallahu alayhi wassalam) also noted that for a woman- performing prayer at home is better than at the masjid.
- If you don't think you're ready for marriage, then don't worry about it. Try fasting to keep your mind off of it. Now once you're ready for marriage, the question arises- how should I get to know a sister? (This is towards the brothers, but I'm sure it's vice versa for the sisters). The answer- through your female relatives. If you really want to get married, tell your mom, your sister, or your female relatives. Perhaps they know of a good sister or could find you one.
