I usually see him speak online or on tv, but I came to our Masjid and gave the Friday Khutba. MashAllah, he is very down to earth, in other words he never speaks as if he knows every thing. I have found him to address the people by what he sees.

For example,

He pointed out that when arriving to Jumma prayer, it is Sunna that you pray 2 rakaat even if the khutba has started. Now I know this, but I was amazed by how many people got up and prayed it at that time when he said it.

He read the first few Ayat of Surat al-Baqara. Ayah 2,

[Hilali-Khan] 2. This is the Book (the Qur'an), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)].[2:2]
I was surprised on how he related this ayah and explained it. I always thought Arab speaking non-muslims never embrace Islam because of pride. But he reminded me why Arab non-muslims don't embrace Islam, because they never received Hudayat. So in other words they may read the Quran in Arabic but Allah is who lets it enter the heart. I am probably not explaining it as how he did, but the point is similar. In other words they are not the people, who are Al-Muttaqun. How he said it was such an impacting way. May Allah give us all hidayah.

He continued to go over the first five ayat of Surat Al-Baqara. And he ended explain meaning of Al-Mufleehoon, that it is a word similar to Falah, like in Athan hiyat ala al-falah. Meaning come to success in the Athan. And the person who will be successful Al-mufleehoon in Ayah 5 of Baqara.

He ended khutba and made Salah. Then after he made thikr and turned around to find a few people rushing out right after salam. So he reminded brothers and sisters that after the Salat there is thikr and duaa, and that this is the moment we ask Allah for what ever we desire. Now, I knew this alhamdilillah, but I was shock to see some of the brothers stop and sit back down and make thikr. mashAllah.

Of course his khutba was about 30 minutes and I can't type all he said.

But I post this to remind brothers and sisters that people relate to people by how they present themselves. Here, Yusuf Estes, he is not a scholar, but people can relate to him and he has taken the time to learn about Islam. And he does a wonderful to remind brothers of Hadith and Quran, and what is more important is some are receptive and act to that reminder.

He was a very nice guy and speaks and acts on Islam.

May Allah grant him paradise and increase him with knowledge.

yusuf estes? not bad not bad. he brings in the "texan humor" along with him thats why ppl like him. one thing i find particularly difficult is that he tells people to remain calm n cool like the Prophet. i question if he would have the same coolness if his own daughters were to come under the circumstances suffered by palestinians or kashmiris or afghan women.(Allah forbid)

Falah also means a farmer :)
You can look at the example of the farmer ,and how the farmer works hard all day ,how he plants the seeds and then taking care of them and then he get what he grow ...
Falah also means success...
