""All humans are dead except those who have knowledge; and all those who have knowledge are asleep, except those who do good deeds; and those who do good deeds are deceived, except those who are sincere; and those who are sincere are always in a state of worry."

This world is a difficult journey
An obstacle to overcome,
Especially in the place we live in,
Not everyday is bright and fun.
The righteous salaf were as fearful of their good deeds
being squandered, or not being accepted,
as the present generation is certain that their neglect
would be forgiven.
[Hasan Al-Basri]

Yoonus Ibn 'ubayd (d.139H)-rahimahullaah-said:

"With good manners you understand the knowledge. With the knowledge, your actions are corrected. With actions, wisdom is obtained. With wisdom you understand zuhd (abstinence) and are granted its benefits. With zuhd comes abandoning the world. With abandoning the world comes desire for the Hereafter. With desire for the Hereafter the pleasure of Allaah-Mighty and Majestic-is obtained.

Posts from 2007, 2008 and beginning of 2009 are gone. In reality the thread has 154 posts, but only around 40 posts can be seen now. The thread was more than 14 pages long. If any moderator can bring back the deleted pages, it would be awesome. It would benefit a lot of readers over here. If it's not possible, no problem.

Jazakallahu khair anyways.

One of the salaf said: "Beware of the life of this world because its magic is more effective than that of Harut and Marut. The two latter's separate a man from his wife whereas the life of this world separates a man from his Rabb."

“Leave the world to those who hanker after it, as they leave the Afterlife to its seekers. And be in this world as the bee: it eats only good, produces only good, and when it rests upon anything it neither ruins it nor deflowers it.”
