One of my friend send me this email. This is a conversation Between a Muslim and Jewish. I want to share it with all of u.

A yahudi (Jewish) guy asked a muslim: Why do your girls cover up their body and hair? The muslim guy smiled and got two sweets, he opened the first one and kept the other one closed. He thrown them both on the dusty floor and asked the yahudi guy: If I asked you to take one of the sweets which one u will choose? The yahudi guy replied: The covered one. Then the muslim guy said that's how we treat and see our women...

Always b proud of r religion n Almighty ALLAH...

Interesting and a bit....strange. Jewish doctrine requires Jewish women to cover modestly as well. So I wonder why a Jewish male would ask such a question.

I was having a discussion with my councellor yesterday about the merits of hijab in Islam vs. the traditional Christian society. I had to point out the misconception of oppression of women in Islam. I didn't intend to get into a religious/philosophical debate, but I felt like I had to stand up for my sisters.

If you dont want to get into philosophical debates, then the internet isnt for you, im pretty sure that its impossible not to get in a debate or upset peop;e,even if you just say three words or a sentence that someone dosnt agree with its made into a big deal, i just learn from the things i said that people dont agree with and keep watering down my opinions, with this pattern i will, eventually, have no opinion on anything at all...

I used to be like that. I used to never have an opinion on anything, but eventually I realized that sooner or later, you have to stand up and be counted. You can't go through life sitting on the fence. Sooner or later you will be called to account, and you'll have to pick one side or the other.

I know, I know, music and all, but there's a song that talks about this. One of the lines is: "You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything."

What I guess is either unknown or ignored by most christians is that head coverings for women are also commanded in their bible. In 1 Corinthians 11 it commands that a woman is to cover her head when praying or prophesying and that a man is to have his head uncovered. Nowadays women is some sects of Christianity still cover their heads with either scarfs, bonnets or hats. Not too long ago even Catholic women would wear a semi-veil when attending mass or even just walking outside. I always find it somewhat amusing when other religions make such uneducated statements about Islam when if they just opened the books they claim to follow they would find muslim practices are not foreign at all.

Assalaam walaikum,

Sister, the problem with Jews is that they do not follow Jewish doctrine. What Jewess covers now. They are the ones who have more surgery to alter their looks.

Early Christianity, Old Testament Judaism, and Islam are almost identical and interchangable. It is when we get into the New Testament Bible that Christianity and Judaism veer from the straight path, as it says in Al-Fatiha.

the problem with Christianity these days, is that they always accuse Muslims of having stolen ideas from the Bible.

:salam2:

Well as a former Christian, I used to think that myself, because historically some of the OT books were written long before the Qur'an. The Qur'an does have similarities to the OT Bible but the problem with the OT Bible is that it is ultimately written by men and as such became corrupted over the centuries.

Islam is what Christianity was originally, and what it should have remained.

:jazaak: for sharing this sister.

I think, somewhere in the Bible it's written that women should cover their hair or cut them short. So covering is common in all Abrahamic faiths, but only muslims adhere to it in general.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Assalamu'alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

The true, devoted Jewish and Christians women of the early days wore scarf. I have read about one grandmother of Orthodox Christian used to cover herself until the day she died.

Brother, forgive me to respond a bit and quote your words.

It is indeed depressing how people put you off just because you don't share the same opinion. But as you grow out of it, sometimes that one, harsh comment that you receive from someone happens to be the wisest of thoughts [many times, truths are bitter]. We should actually be thankful for that even if we receive it in the most horrible manners because not only it increases on your patience but it also widen your point of views.

Differences in opinions is a mercy. Just like khilaaf between the scholars is a Rahmah. It is actually about THE WAY people address their opinions that put off others from giving theirs. May we be far from being such people, wa iyyathobillah.

Even if that comment seems silly and childish, you hold on strongly to what you believe. Saying al-haqq and refuting al-bathil are an obligation upon every Muslim. At the end of the day, you forgive of their shortcomings and keep on enjoining good and forbidding evil.

And I second with Just A Guy. [We're giving you some motivation here!]

Assalaam walaikum,

There are sects of women all over the world that cover. We have discussed the issue on TTI before.

There are a group of women that dress in a modest manner and then there are the poor beings whose manner of dress is simply seductive.

The most important feature of a woman lies buried in her body. It is her heart. And what is in the heart is always reserved for the very best.

Personally...if I were a candy bar I would not want to picked up from the ground. I am so rich a blend of exotic spices I am a delicacy. You take me out for the special occasion. Once a year, one bite and you are good to go for a whole year. That's how we have to be.

Asalamoalaikom wa rahamtullahi wa barakaatuh,

Quoting to correct you here sister,

According "The prophet's:saw: prayers" by sheikh Albaani, this hadith is "invented":

The Weakness of the Ahaadeeth endorsing ikhtilaaf (disagreement, differing)
from: Silsilah al-Ahaadeeth ad-Da`eefah wa'l-Mawdoo`ah (58-62) by Shaykh al-Albaani

"The disagreement among my Ummah is a mercy."

a) Laa Asla Lahu (Baseless). The muhadditheen have tried to find an isnaad for it but have not found one, to the extent that Suyooti said in his al-Jaami` as-Sagheer, "Perhaps it was collected in one of the books of the huffaadh which did not reach us"!
This suggestion is very far-fetched, since it would mean that some of the sayings of the Prophet (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) have been lost to the ummah forever, something which is not permissible for a Muslim to believe.

Manaawi quoted Subki as saying, "It (i.e. the saying) is not known to the muhadditheen and I cannot find any isnaad for it, whether saheeh, da`eef or mawdoo`", and this was endorsed by Shaykh Zakareeyyah al-Ansaari in his notes on Tafseer al-Baidaawi [92/2].

Further, the meaning of this hadeeth is also incorrect as shown by the verifying scholars, hence Ibn Hazm says in al-Ihkaam fi Usool al-Ahkaam [5/64] after indicating that it is not a hadeeth,

"This is one of the most incorrect sayings possible, since if ikhtilaaf were a mercy, then agreement would be a punishment, something which no Muslim would say, because there can only be agreement or disagreement, and there can only be mercy or punishment."

More on Ibn Hazm's words are quoted below:

b) It contradicts the Qur'aan, which has condemned ikhtilaaf in many places.

And Allaah knows best!

Jazaakallah khair,

Wa'alaykummusalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

Sister Seeking Allah's Mercy, thank you for sharing that information. However, I've heard from respectable Sheikhs [inshaAllaah those that can be trusted for their ilm'] said about khilaaf being a rahmah and I have read some elaborations on khilaaf/ikhtilaaf. For example, the 4 madhaab have differences in some fiqhi matters (but not that of aqeedah). But as of now, I don't have much references with me. Will try to dig something, inshaa Allaah.

P.S: Probably this is not the best thread to discuss this, eh? :)

And yes, Allaah knows best.

Since the hadeeth is daeef, that statement can not be attributed to the Prophet SallAllahu Alleyhi Wa Sallam.

However as you rightly stated, some of our pious scholars have stated that ikhtilaaf in some matters is a rahmah. So rather, it is a statement of our scholars.

That might be too hot for some of us unaccustomed to such richness. It is a rare thing indeed to find that perfect blend of beauty, brains, and confidence, and a sense of humor. Most women I've met lack one or more of those things.
