Body piercing

Isra

aka Tree2008
In my time of ignorance, I had 21 body piercings.
I took them out as a sign of submission to allah subhana wa ta ala. I also have a large tattoo on my leg but insha'Allah i will get it removed.

In my time of ignorance, I didnt really see the problem with how modern girls dress. I of course, dressed that way. (to my parents anguish)

And now...When i see a girl with a lot of facial piercings or a miniskirt i feel bad for her. Is she so attention starved that she wants this negative attention? She wants some gross pervert to oogle her and commit zina with her for 20 minutes and never see her again?

Islam is a lifeboat.
More women in the West need the REAL facts about Islam. Insha'Allah.

As salamo alaikome

I totally get what youre saying here sister but to be honest when we are living this way and we are ignorant to the meaning of life we dont really think about things in this context. I mean we do it because our friends are doing it or we do it because its the norm for where we live and we see it everyday! In fact if we dont follow what our friends are doing we actually feel as if there is something wrong with us! We never think about the harm that is in what we are wearing or what we are saying or how we are acting. We are blind and deaf as Allah says in Quran. We are in darkness where evil is on the menu and is served up on a daily basis. Islam is the light that causes our eyes to be opened and our ears to finally hear the truth. Then and only then do we feel sick to our stomach when we view another poor soul walking in the shoes we left behind. I wish with all my heart that Allah finds something good in them and guides them to the truth.

it's sad how western women think that going around naked means freedom. It's kinda like this. The chickens are guarded from the wolves in a farm by dogs. The wolves can't go near the chickens because of the dogs so they told chickens that they are prisoners of the dogs and they should come out in order to achieve freedom.

Ashad: Well, I wear shorts in the summer because it is hot, and they are more comfortable. I like wearing what is comfortable. And any 'wolf' who tries to get near me, without my permission, is going to get an unpleasant introduction to my good friends, Mr. Sturm & Ruger. This is what *I* call Freedom.

Metal things

I've met quite a few sisters whose noses got infection from piecing it and putting those filthy metals in it.

Yeah, I know what you mean about bad metals. As I have mentioned elsewhere, I make chainmail jewelry. Usually I get the metal rings for this from a company in Canada, which has very good quality metal rings. However, once I decided to buy some cheaper rings from a store in my city. I believe they came from China.

Well! I will never make that mistake again! The rings were made of very poor quality metal, and were all twisted, making them very hard to close. I went back to the store, and complained about the rings. The sales lady did not understand, she said nobody had complained about their rings before. So I asked her, what did other people do with these rings, and she said, they just put one or two of them on the end of a necklace or bracelet to attach the clasp to.

I told her, that's why they didn't complain, they were just doing that. I, on the other hand, make chainmail. I use HUNDREDS of rings. It takes a very long time to do, and I do not like twisted rings, I need them to close right the first time.

i don't think a tongue piercing would be befitting of a muslim woman. especially the negative reputation that the tongue piercing has.

Assalaam walaikum,

If a married woman wants wishes to pierce her tongue for the purpose of fulfilling her husbands desire so be it. To wear it out in public is in poor taste.

Wired!! I got shivers from some of the above posts really, thinking what if my future wife asks me for permission. Let me tell it here, and if needed, I will tell her to go come and search what I have said in this post of TTI.

"Beloved!! Even if you ask me to stay away from home for 4 months, that will be much easier than giving you permission to pierce your nose, not to mention about tongue, lips etc etc." **Sigh**

I also have a large tattoo but insha'Allah i will get it removed.

Assalam 'Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

May Allah reward you abundantly dear sister. Just wanted to say, please do it as soon as possible because it is indeed a grave matter.

Narrated 'Abdullah: "Allah has cursed those women who practise tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those who remove their face hairs, and those who create a space between their teeth artificially to look beautiful, and such women as change the features created by Allah. Why then should I not curse those whom the Prophet has cursed? And that is in Allah's Book. i.e. His Saying: 'And what the Apostle gives you take it and what he forbids you abstain (from it).' (59.7) (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Dress, Volume 7, Book 72, Number 815)"

She has a tattoo from before she was Muslim

Praise be to Allaah.

Praise be to Allaah Who has guided you to His Straight Path. I ask Allaah to make you steadfast in following it. As for this tattoo which cannot be removed except through this kind of surgery, you do not have to do this, because it is too difficult and will cause pain and hurt. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning);

“… and [Allaah] has not laid upon you in religion any hardship…” [al-Hajj 22:78]. Your regret and dislike of that, and your determination never to do it again is sufficient. Also, Islam wipes out what came before, so in this case leaving it as it is should not cause you any harm, in sha Allaah. May Allaah help you to do that which He loves and which pleases Him.

Assalaam walaikum,

Brother,

I by no means advocate unnecessary piercings. Please do not get me wrong.
I reached and nose and ears are ok.

So much of it is culture. What can I say.

I am so glad the fashion has changed in the US; for a while all I saw were navel piercings. Yuck...

I sincerely can not take a person seriously when they have a tongue piercing. The person for some reason plays with the metal while taking to me...I feel like inserting a lollipop in the mouth. ( forgive me, my age is showing).

I didnt mean you, i meant in general, all children of Adam, all human.
amazing we are, we do things 'without' reason, and then try to fit it with reason, to justify our actions, moreover, we want to go with the things that fits our desires(in case of opinion, fatwa or whatever), so where comes the need of justification or verification.

wa-llahi, children of Adam is amazingly ungrateful nd transgressors.
may Allah guide us, guide us to the biased and evil free knowledge, may Allah help or brothers and sister all around the world

:salam2:

But didn't it say somewhere in the fatwas above that tongue piercing is harmful to the body and therefore is forbidden? If so, it doesn't matter whether the muslim husband wishes his wife to do it or not. And let alone the entire matter of *why* a true muslim husband would *want* his wife to have a tongue piercing.

This thread gives me the shivers.

Assalaam walaikum,

It is nasty...and I have seen people with infections. What people do not share is that the infections last upto six months. Yuck.....and even I will leave alone the husband/wife thing.

Yuck is all I can say. Yuck Yuck yuck.

I much prefer you thread on moving the tongue while supplicating. On the Day of Judgment, Sister, let my tongue witness for me that I did one thing right, an atom of right.

Believe it or not i had a girlfriend who was muslim and had her tongue and bellybutton pierced. I have met a few muslim girls with those in both UAE and also Tunisia and Egypt. I actually don't see much of that here in USA though.

Do whatever you can to talk them OUT of a tongue piercing, PLEASE!

I had a tongue piercing for 6 years, and the constant rubbing from the bottom ball on the gum tissue will cause it to recede very low. And the only way to fix this is an expensive surgery.

It also has cracked several of my teeth.

They dont tell you all that when they're taking your money and sticking a needle in your tongue :/

assalaamu alaikum warahamathulahi wa barakathuhu

thanks for telling us your experience sister...it may help sister aapa in advising the teens

I thought removing facial hairs (not eyebrows) was permissible?! I've been doing it thinking it was okay to do...

Re: piercings. I have a few, but all in sensible places. My ears and my nose. I remember, before marriage, I asked my father if I could have my ears pierced a second time and he although he didn't refuse, he wasn't too pleased. In fact, he and my mother came with me to get it done, but he was muttering all the way :SMILY335: He said "Next, you'll want your whole face done!" And, of course, I didn't want my whole face done. So, I now have four holes in one ear and three in the other and one in my nose...and I do not have any intentions for further piercings :hijabi:
