The U.S. is casino economy - the bettings won't stop. The bailouts robbed the taxpayers and rewarded the criminals. Derivatives and hedge funds is similar to a government security (I forgot the name) that ignited the Great Depression.

since you mentioned The Great Depression, I thought i would chime in on that. The Great Depression was detonated by the British default on Gold payments. This action destroyed the international monetary system that was based on the pound sterling and destroyed international trade. The other aspect was the war debt burden placed on the Central Powers. Germany owed 55 billion gold dollars to the allies. After the war world trade never reached its pre-war level. The House of Morgan financed Britain and France. After the war Morgan demanded the newly bankrupted England and France to pay back the loans. A system to repay the loans was developed where Morgan loaned money to Germany and Germany paid England and France. England and France would then take that money and pay Morgan. So there was this whole circle and eventually the whole circle collasped because Germany is crushed by debt burdens and the entire international structure craters and enter The Great Depression.
