Assalam alaikum,
In his book titled, "Admonition For The Neglectful", Faqih Abu Laith Samarqandi, may Allah be merciful to him, mentioned that carrying out 4 things and abstaining from another 4 things will protect one from punishment in the grave. The 4 things to practice are:--
1) Punctuality with Salaah.
2) Abundant (regular) charity/sadaqa.
3) Recitation of the Holy Qur'an
4) Abundance of Zikr (regularly).... And the 4 things to avoid or abstain from are:---
1) Lying 2) Misappropriation of trust 3) Carrying tales and 4) Droppings of urine (from contaminating the body and/or clothes).
The Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, mentioned that punishment in the grave is usually due to droppings of urine. Note this well.
