Ramadan 2019 Date
Ramadan will begin with the end of the ongoing month of Sha'ban. As per the current date, today is 18th of Sha'ban in Saudi Arabia and most of the Gulf Nations. As the Islamic Calendar is based on lunar system and a month ends and new month begins with sighting of the crescent - the new moon, a month is of either 29 days of 30 days.
Hence if the new moon is sighted on 29th of Sha'ban corresponding to May 04, 2019 then the month of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia and other Arab states will start on Sunday May 05, 2019. If the new moon is not sighted on 29th of Sha'ban then the Ramadan 2019 will start in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states from May 06, 2019.
As for the likely date of Ramadan 2019 in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other South Asian countries, Muslims here start fasting a day later than their counterparts in the Gulf. Hence Ramadan here is likely to start either on May 06 or May 07, 2019 - based on the sighting of the new moon.
