As Salamu 'Alaykum,

I was invited by written invitation to an informal meeting to discuss "how to avoid making regrettable decisions." The meeting was being held in the home of one of my neighbors whom I did not know. My wife was visiting with my biological sisters; so, I thought I would go and see what it was. When I arrived there were only a small number of people of whom I knew one by name and one by sight. Before the meeting formally commenced, I was asked, "What denomination are you, Frank." I proudly announced that I am a new Muslim.

The long space is for the silence in the room. After what seemed a very long time, the person whose home it was asked politely, "Why are you a Muslim?"
I brief explained that I loved Allah and the more I learned about Islam the more I knew it was where I belonged.

The meeting started and there was very generic questions about "Who had done things they regretted later?" " What could a person do to avoid those types of mistakes?" "How can we know what is appropriate behavior and correct choices?" Then gradually the conversation moved toward the Bible.

The announcement was made that each week there would be a meeting to learn what the Bible had to say about making choices.

The entire time I was there Qur'anic Ayat sounded within my head (I should say English Translation of Avat from Al Qur'an). I am not saying they were word for word or even and entire Ayah at a time. But, the meaning was clear that I had no business being part of this group. They were all nice people, but they weren't professed Muslim and they definitely didn't understand who Yeshua was or Tawheed.

I realized that even good intentions by People of The Book can feel wrong to a Muslim. I wanted to leave. I wanted to corrected there misconceptions about Allah and his prophets. I wanted to purchase copies of Al Qur'an and say, "Please, read this and you will understand why I call myself a Muslim and left (I know, those of you who are reading this are saying "learn more Qur'an and Arabic and stop using The Bible to express yourself. :) ) Christianity.

From my inner most being, I can say that the most important thing to me isn't that my wife and I avoid Hell Fire. The most important thing for me isn't that I live a prosperous or long life. Them most important thing isn't status, comfort, or any of the things people who are not Muslims: wealth, power, prestige, health, happiness, etc. The most important thing in my life, even when I fall short of the mark, is to please Allah. It is such a privilege after such a long spiritual journey to finally have a peace and assurance that I have once again found that Path of Submission to Allah.

And, now just to check if anyone ,other than those dear Muslim Brothers and Sisters who tolerate my longwindedness and still answer my questions and send me private messages or help and encouragement, actually read my posts, I have a question: What does the following Ayah mean and is it is it wrong based on this or any other Ayah to ask for prayer?

Al-Anbiya
He knoweth what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot intercede except for him whom He accepteth, and they quake for awe of Him. (28)

And, if it is alright for Muslims to ask for Du'a, I have in addition to my long chronic pain and disabilities, a new medical problem (only six or seven months) severe pain, tenderness, and swelling in my neck. My Oldest sister who worked as a nurse in the operating room and has had cancer and lost her husband to cancer told me that it may be either a serious infection or cancer.Alhamdulillah. I am not looking for pity or admiration, but if it is permissible, I would appreciate you remember me in when doing your Du'a that I continue to please Allah and that I live or die a Muslim. My health has prevented me from making my Shahadah physically before Muslim and I tell anyone who asks that "I am a Muslim." and when asked why I think:
"Ashhadu an la ilaha illa 'llah; ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasulu 'llah"

I want only the best for each of you. The more I use English Search Engines, the more I feel that on behalf of all decent English Speakers I need to apologize to every Muslim for the garbage that is put on the web concerning Islam. I can't do a single search without having to wade through a mountain of garbage propaganda. I use to refer to myself as a paranoid, but now I think cynical or realistic would be better. Only Shaitan could propagate such lies and negativity against those who seek to worship Allah and peacefully live in submission to His Perfect Will.

Praise be to Allah (The Glorified and Exalted).

Congratulations on your reversion (conversion) to Islam. Did your wife and children also revert to Islam?

"He knoweth what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot intercede except for him whom He accepteth, and they quake for awe of Him."

The verse mentions some of the Attributes of Allah (The Glorified and Exalted). The verse refers to the Omniscience of Allah (The Glorified). It also refers to His complete authority, in that none of the creation may intercede or have a say before Him, unless He is pleased with them. This refutes the worship of some who turn to priests, saints, prophets (such as Isa (Jesus), peace be upon them) for intercession, believing these persons can help them gain salvation. The verse also makes mention of the Might and Domination of the Almighty over His creation.

Try an Abdullah Yusuf Ali English translation of the Qur'an, it reads a lot easier in English, and find one with the commentary at the bottom of the page because it is very helpful.

PS. Try to see a doctor concerning your medical conditions, and taking medications is perfectly fine in Islam. Try to avoid gell tablet caps on some oral medications, such as Tylenol with gell caps, because the gell caps are made from gelatin. If there is no alternative, then it is permissible, because it is a necessity, in that medication.

And Allah Knows Best.

As Salamu 'Alaykum,

Thank you.

In Christianity, we used an expression "convicted." When we felt something was wrong and if we continued to participate with it we would be doing wrong.

My wife followed me through every conceivable reason I had for leaving a particular church. One church told me if I didn't baptize according to Matt 28:19 than I need to find another church. The members of a church that I was pastoring told me they didn't like beards. I gave them about five scriptures to show that men of God wore beards and was told, "Well, we don't like it and if you insist on growing a beard than we need to find a new pastor." So, Insha Allah, my wife will follow me into Islam in her time. She already refers to Allah by His Name. When I am listening to Nasheed as I fall asleep, I hear her saying the words along with the Nasheed. She loves to listen to Give Thanks to Allah and Allah Knows among others.

Well, I am in alot of pain. So, I will say Good Night to All and Alhamdulillah and Subhanallah.

As Salamu 'Alaykum,

I just read a long article on Sunnahs and I try to read some everyday. I am not sure about the site; so, I deleted the link. But, the article was very informative. It was by Dr. G. F. Haddad.

Lately, the words of Al Qur'an come alive for me. They seem to burn into my mind and at the same time bring me Joy. I was given a beautiful translation of Al-Qur'an published by The Institute of Islamic Knowledge. I also have access to online versions one of which is Quran Explorer.

Thanks again for you posts. My wife had both knees replaced two and two and a half years ago. She has been telling the doctor every visit that the last one is extremely painful and makes tearing sounds. He keeps telling her to give it time. I took her to a specialist for a second opinion and he said their is a serious problem with the tibia on the X-ray. She is going to have lab work done and a bone scan. So, I have to get up in a few hours and drive her the 45 miles to the hospital. So, once again Subhanallah and Alhamdulillah.

Assalamualaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

This thread...sort of brought tears to me. I dont know why. Maybe because I know that there are many Christians who are good people, just that they havent yet found the truth. But of course Allaah guides whomsoever that He wishes. Also because there are many people around me, they are Muslims; but they just dont feel the i'zzah of being a Muslim. Of how great it is to be a Muslim.

Day by day, as I think back of my faith, I just feel that Allaah has been given me (and all Muslims) the greatest blessings of all - to know who Allaah is and to worship Him the way He wants. And many other blessings that are uncountable of.

Yeah, I hope to die as a Muslim too. I hope we all die as a shaheed/shaheedah in His path. And gain khusnul khatimah (a good ending in life). And resurrected on The Day of Judgment as a Muslim.

Surely we will remember you and everyone in our dua'a.

Sorry didnt answer much of your questions.

Wassalam.

As Salamu 'Alaykum,

Shokran. I thank each of you for your kind remarks.

There is a story that says I complained about not having shoes until I saw a man without a foot. I am striving to learn to accept all that happens to me as the Allah's Will. Usually, the bad things which happen to me are the result of my own carelessness. I have lived more than half a decade and the one thing that I have seen in my own life is the truth in a New Testament Scripture form an English King James Bible. Romans 8:28 "All things work together for good to those who love 'God' and are called according to his purpose." I still suffer consequences when I make errors in judgment or go against what is right, but things always have and hopefully, Insha Allah, will continue to work for my good in the long run.

I try to remember that the pain of this life will be but the blink of an eye when view from the perspective of eternity.

Again, thank you for your kindness. Subahan 'Allah! Alhamdulillah!

Assalemu alaikom,
Once again your words have touched me. Your sincerity is blinding, if that makes sense. I really feel so inadequate as a Muslim when I read how you research every detail, and feel with such conviction the truth of Islam. I, too feel the conviction, but am unable to express it so eloquently. I thank Allah for allowing me to read your words, as they are an inspiration.
I am sorry about your poor health. My parents are in their mid to late 70's and also suffer from various ailments which come with age. My greatest wish is for them to feel as you do about Islam and I ask you and all the brothers and sisters here to pray for them. I ask Allah to protect you and your family and to relieve your suffering. Chronic pain is draining, I can only imagine what you go through. At least you now have your Islamic faith to keep you strong. It is a true gift from Allah.
Please give my best regards to your wife and family.

Asalaamualaykum,

I second some of these post, in the sense that your words are both inspiring and indeed interesting; you should consider writing a blog.

Also brother, keep patient and don't forget that for all your pain felt, your sins are being expiated (InshAllah).

May Allah SWT keep you and your wife strong and may He bless you both with eternal paradise. Ameen.

Take care. Wa'alaykumasalaam.

Abu Hurairah narrates that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "When Allah wants to be good to someone, He tries him with some hardship."

Abu Hurairah also reports that Allah's Messenger, peace be upon him, said: "For every misfortune, illness, anxiety, grief, or hurt that afflicts a Muslim -even the hurt caused by the pricking of a thorn - Allah removes some of his sins." Ibn Mas'ud said: "I visited the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, while he had a fever. I exclaimed: 'O Messenger of Allah! You have a high fever! ' He said: 'My fever is as much as two among you [might have]. ' I asked: 'Is it because you have a double reward?' He replied: 'Yes, that is right. No Muslim is afflicted with any hurt, even if it is no more than the pricking of a thorn, but Allah wipes off his sins because of it and his sins fall away from him as leaves fall from a tree'."

Assalaamu Alaikum Akhi, I enjoy those types of "corrals" if you will because, they can't understand the bible, but I teach them about the Bible with the contradictions that ministers world wide, pump into these peoples minds ie Where in all of the revised bibles does it describe Isa Birthday on the 25December, where in the bible does it say to celebrate his birthday when in fact Isa never mentioned it, nor told ppl to do such a thing? and the list go's on and on, I would humbly suggest that you get a copy of "what did jesus really say" now if youre a loose cannon i advise u not to purchase it! What I come to understand is that these ppl want to know but are too scared to know because they are hiding behind what their minister(s) tell them. when they speak of what's in the Quran in a bad way, I pull out my Arabic Quran and have them show me (transliteration is not Quran), and when they can't, well our converstion has just finished peacefully!

Shukran

As Salamu 'Alaykum,

Zakariyya Akhoya,

You are correct. Did you know that you can actually prove from the Bible that when Jesus (PBUH) was born? In Luke 1:5,we read that Zacharais, the father of John "The Baptist" was of the priest course of Abijah. In The Tanakh, the book of 1 Chronicles tells us when and for how long each of the 24 courses of the Leviticus Priesthood served. If anyone is interested here is how the current English Bible breaks it down.

Ch 24:1 Now these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
1Ch 24:2 But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest's office

(I once preached a sermon on Nadab and Abihu demonstrating how serious Allah views false worship.

1Ch 24:10 The seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,

1Ch 9:25 And their brethren, which were in their villages, were to come after seven days from time to time with them.

So every seven days a new Course would serve and after 24 Course they had a three week period where all the priest served and than the rotation started over again.

Luk 1:8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,
Luk 1:9 According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
Luk 1:10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.
Luk 1:11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
Luk 1:12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
Luk 1:13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
Luk 1:14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
Luk 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
Luk 1:16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.
Luk 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Luk 1:18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.
Luk 1:19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.
Luk 1:20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
Luk 1:21 And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.
Luk 1:22 And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.
Luk 1:23 And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.
Luk 1:24 And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,
Luk 1:25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

This would have meant that Zacharias and Elisabeth would have conceived John The Baptist cousin of Jesus in the Hebrew month of Sivan or early Tamuz.

Mary mother of Jesus conceived approximately 6 months latter:

Luk 1:26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
Luk 1:27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
Luk 1:28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
Luk 1:29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
Luk 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
Luk 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Luk 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Luk 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

The above verse helped me to see that Yeshua was to reign over the house of Israel for ever.

Luk 1:36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
Luk 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Luk 1:38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

So Yeshua would have been conceived around the end of the Hebrew month Kislev or the beginning of the month Tevet. The Feast of Lights was an eight day Feast from Kislev 24 to Tevet 7.

Now there are plenty more scriptures; however, it suffices to say that since John would have been born approximately on Passover, the 15th day of Nisan (the 1st Jewish month), Jesus would have been born six months later on the 15th day of Tishri (the 7th Jewish month). The 15th day of the 7th month begins the Feast of Tabernacles (Lev. 23:34-35), also known as Sukkot. Jesus was born on the 1st day of the Feast of Tabernacles!

THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT! We often say ALLAH says when we refer to a ayah in a Surah of AL Qur'an. Yeshua was a man who was the Messiah to the Jews. (I believe that Yeshua lived in complete submission to Allah and obedience to TORAH). The Commandments were kept in The Holiest of Hollies in The Ark of The Covenent. So, what better day for Jesus (PBUH) to have been born than on the Feast of Tabernacles.

The Feast Days of The Old Testament shed so much light on The New Testament and yet most Christians dislike discussions about anything that has to do with Allah's Feast Days except perhaps Pentecost.

I have notebooks full of information from my studies; and yet, if you tell the ever average Christian that Yeshua was not born on Dec. 25th, you will quickly see a change of both expression and at best a "stone face" and at worse rage.

I feel so blessed to have Al Qur'an and the Sunnahs that plainly tell us in sahih bukhari book 15 015:69-015:104 that as Muslims we have two Festivals.

Everyday Al Qur'an, Hadith, and Sunnahs shed more nur (Light on the Truth). Also Isa (PBUH) continually said he was a man who didn't know all that Allah knows and was only a servant of Allah's.

Alhamdulilah! Subhan Allah!

As Salamu 'Alaykum, My Brother Big Ak,

I am most certainly blessed with a precious wife. She reminds me of the wife of virtue in Proverbs 31:

Pro 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Pro 31:11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
Pro 31:12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Pro 31:13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
Pro 31:14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
Pro 31:15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
Pro 31:16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
Pro 31:17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
Pro 31:18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
Pro 31:19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
Pro 31:20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
Pro 31:21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
Pro 31:22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Pro 31:23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
Pro 31:24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Pro 31:25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
Pro 31:26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
Pro 31:27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Pro 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Pro 31:29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Pro 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Pro 31:31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
