Hardening your resolve
Once there was a man who felt great love for the prophet (PBUH). As a result of this love, he longed to meet Muhammad passionately. Unable to wait until the Day of Judgment, he longed to at least dream about his prophet. however, no matter how hard he tried to do so, he failed.
Growing more and more desperate, he approached a pious and knowledgeable scholar .he told him his wish, and requested guidance. The scholar welcomed him into his home, saying that he would elucidate the means by which he could accomplish his goal.
Being a traditional good host, the scholar had an extravagant meal prepared for his guest; the guest was served the most mouth watering selection of meats and vegetables, garnished with ample salt. He ate plateful after plateful heartily. However, soon he noticed with alarm that something was missing from this perfect meal- water. Upon finishing his meal, the guest was incredibly parched; however, knowing the proper mannerisms of being a guest, he did not request water from his host. To his dismay, he was sent to bed without quenching his thirst but eager at a chance to see his beloved messenger.
That night he dreamt about nothing but water; he saw magnificent waterfalls, swam in ponds of crystal clear water, and drank from a multitude of sparkling streams. He woke up and went to meet the scholar, who greeted him with a glass of water. After waiting for him to finish, the host asked his guest if he dreamed about any thing. Upon hearing his narration, the scholar smiled and replied: “only when you wish to see the prophet in your dreams as strongly as you thirsted for water will he visit you in your dreams”.
