Most of us think that praying 5 times a day, keeping fasts in Ramadhan, doing hajj and going for Umrah makes us a perfect Muslim.
Sadly, this is not true. It does make you a better muslim but Islam is not just about this.
Islam is also about society - your own lifestyle and your dealing with other people.
Insha'Allah, we will try to take a look at the lives of our Prophet صلي الله عليه وسلم and the lives of Sahaba.
Then we can compare ourselves with them and see where our shortcomings are.
لقد كان لكم في رسول الله أسوة حسنة لمن كان يرجو الله واليوم الآخر وذكر الله كثيرا
There is indeed a good model for you in the Messenger of Allah - for the one who has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah profusely.
(Al-Ahzaab:21)
Rasool Allah صلي الله عليه وسلم is the ROLE MODEL for us in every aspect of our lives, not just in Salah!
If we look at the lives of our Prophet and the Sahaba, one thing we will find common in all of them was Simplicity. Even the richest Sahaba lived a simple life. Because they had understood that this life is a journey, and it's not very wise for a traveler to spend alot on his temporary residence.
كن في الدنيا كانك غريب أو عابر سبيل
Be in Dunia as if you are a stranger or just crossing the way...
