But would it always be full all throughout the five daily prayers or only full during Jumaa prayer.
There is a lot of beautiful mosque in my country, but sadly most of the time less than 10% of the space is filled during the obligatory prayer( except of course during Jumaa ).

1) Masjid Kampung Laut, Kelantan, Malaysia

nilampuri1.jpg

History:

Many centuries ago, missionaries sailed the width and length of the Malay Archipelago to disseminate words of Islam to the inhabitants of these lands. They plied far and wide, with tremendous energy and devotion to fulfil their call of duty.

One day, a group of missionaries came by the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia on the way from Pattani(Southern Thailand) to Java(in Indonesia) or vice versa as there are many differing point of references. The seafarers' boat unfortunately sprung a leak along the way. As the boat floundered helplessly, the missionaries made a vow that if they were to survive such a catastrophe and were safely brought to shore, they would immediately build a mosque to commemorate the miraculous journey. Indeed their prayers were answered and the missionaries safely landed at Kampung Laut (Sea Village).

Special highlights:

- Located at Kampung Laut, Kelantan the Islamic City. The oldest mosque/masjid in Malaysia. It was built in the 1730's.
- Architectural styles influenced by factors such as climatic conditions, availability of building materials, ethnic background and local craftsmanship.
- The mosque/masjid was raised on stilts about 1m above ground because it located near to riverbank. This allows natural ventilation and cools the internal parts.
- Four main columns support the upper most roof which is separated from the lower double-tiered roofs by timber louvres. This gap provides natural cross ventilation in the central area and also admits light.
- Building was covered with tiered roofs and the tiles made from natural ceramic. This naturally cools the space beneath even thou under hot sun. So it does not have air-conditioner since it cools moderately.
- The original mosque before any renovation taken was put together without hammering a single nail. It is example like piecing a "lego" collection together.

2) Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque (The Floating Mosque), Kuala Ibai, Terengganu, Malaysia

masjid.gif

A state where religion is held close to it's people's hearts, the Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque, or also referred to as the Floating Mosque, is one of the icons of Islam in the state. Built from an idea birthed by the late Sultan of Terengganu, Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah, this mosque was named after his mother, Tuanku Intan Zaharah binti Almarhum Tengku Seri Setia Raja.

The mosque is located in Teluk Ibai, just over 4km away from Kuala Terengganu town centre, quite close to the beautiful beach of Terengganu's coast. The white structure of the mosque gorunds covers and area of roughly 5 acres and serves a number of villages nearby. Construction of the mosque began in 1991, designed by celebrated architect, Raja Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad.

The beauty of its architecture and serenity of its surrounding landscape, also draws a great number of visitors to Terengganu who take the opportunity to perform their prayers and take a breather from their journey at this mosque. The design of the mosque reflects a subtle Islamic influence combined with local features, incorporating the use of marble, ceramics, mosaic works and bomanite paving. . The entire mosque covers 25,282 square feet - large enough to accommodate between 800 to 1,000 people at once - and the minaret stands 125 feet tall. Constructed with a lake surrounding it, much like a moat, the mosque is popularly referred to as the Floating Mosque. With the backdrop of the open SoutH China Sea, this mosque is an irresistable attraction to visitors in Terengganu.

Assalamu alaikum brother Salehya!
Welcome to TTI, to your muslim family. How can we forget you and Al-aqsa. We know what oppressions you are going through. The wicked plans of Zionists and its western allies have used all the powers and might against you, but mashallah, you are still facing this satanic conspiracy with bravery. Injustice and cruelty doesn't last for too long as the end of everything belongs to Allah swt. the tragedy of Palestine is a heartache for the whole muslim world and Allah swt is testing us with this great test. May Allah swt grant us patience and victory to bring back justice and peace to the people of Palestine.

Lal Masjid - Markazi Jamia Masjid in Pakistan

Lal Masjid: Brief Background

With the shifting of Pakistan’s capital from Karachi to Islamabad, Markazi Jamia Masjid, known as Lal Masjid, was constructed in 1965. Eversince its establishment, Lal Masjid has always been in media due to its socio-religious activities. Maulana Muhammad Abdullah (Shaheed) was first Khateeb & Imam of Lal Masjid, whose personality gave made the mosque a nucleus of Muslim ummah. It is due to his dedications for the service of Islam that Lal Masjid earned repute in the Islamic world.

Lal Masjid is no ordinary place of worship. From the time of Maulana Muhammad Abdullah, its position has been that of a nucleus around which the life of the community revolves. His sincerity and deep concern for the people earned him their abiding respect and loyalty. He remained committed to the truth in the most trying of circumstances.

He never hesitated to speak out against the forces of tyranny and oppression. He took his dictation from the Shariah and not from any other authority. This was not always palatable to the rulers who did whatever was in their power to deter him from his mission. He was incarcerated, lured with bribes, threatened but when nothing worked, he was made to pay for the “sin” of proclaiming the truth. He paid the price with his life. He was assassinated by the government within the very premises of the mosque he raised, which now stands as a symbol of the glorious traditions of Islam.

After Maulana Muhammad Abdullah(Shaheed)

After the Shahadat of Maulana Abdullah, his son Maulana Abdul Aziz inherited not only his father’s mantle but also the principles which his father lived and died for. History is repeating itself. Lal Masjid, its Khatib and Naib Khatib are facing the wrath of the authorities in much the same way as their father. Lal Masjid continues to be targeted under one pretext or another because the authorities feel threatened by its very existence.

There is nothing new about this hype generated by the government to malign Lal Masjid and its officials. They have been facing such adverse circumstances for decades. Lal Masjid has been on the hit list of the government for the last twenty years. To fully understand the reasons for this, one need to know what Lal Masjid represents and what it stands for.

Apart from all this, every one is well aware of what the international scenario is like. Pakistan continues to be pushed and pressured to “do more” in order to give a boost to someone else’s (America’s) so called war on terror even if it means becoming a victim of the same war on terror. All this is part of the “do more” campaign and of America’s agenda. If one looks around and he will see that Lal Masjid and its officials are the victims of this “do more” campaign.

Some time back a foreign journalist asked Naib Khateeb of Lal Masjid an odd question. “Why is it,” he asked “that Lal Masjid is circled in red by the CIA and other agencies?” In response Allama Ghazi told the journalist that this was probably because Lal Masjid and its affiliated Madrassahs have a unique and influential standing as centers of religious learning and guidance. The call from the minarets of Lal Masjid resonates not only throughout the length and breadth of Pakistan but also echoes throughout the Islamic world. It is in the forefront of religious movements and in upholding and defending the causes of the Ummah (world wide community of believers).

Why Lal Masjid is Targeted ?

Lal Masjid is being repeatedly dragged into one or the other sordid affairs. This is being done deliberately to defame it and to alienate the people who hold it in high esteem. People have a strong allegiance and bonds with Lal Masjid and this is precisely what poses a threat to the authorities.

The rulers are averse to the call that emanates from Lal Masjid which can be summed up by the Quranic injunction “Enjoin good and forbid evil”. Rulers have never brooked even the mildest of criticism and have never missed any opportunity to victimize and tyrannize anyone who stands up to them.
In 2004 the government agencies, for example, blamed Allama Ghazi that he was involved in a terror plot that was to attack GHQ, Presidency, Army House, Parliament House and American Embassy on the eve of independence day of 2004.

This created a hype and continued for two and half month and its drop seen was by an announcement that it was all a mis-understanding. This is a dangerous policy as it erodes the very foundations of any civilized society. It involves nabbing anyone without even charging him with an offense, it involves extrajudicial detentions, use of torture to extract confessions from a suspect. It involves one sided media trials which permit no opportunity for defense. If one looks around, he will find that all this has become the order of the day

Killing of Ulema by Intellegence Agencies

Moreover, religious figures are not just kept under surveillance. They are also incarcerated, tortured and also killed by the agencies. Ulema and religious scholars have been eliminated by intelligence agencies. It’s a long list, Mufti Jameel Khan, Maulana Ateequr Rehman, Maulana Yousaf Ludhyanivi,Maulana Habibullah Mukhtar, Maulana Ziaur Rehman, Maulana Esarul Qasmi, Maulana Abdullah, Dr.Ghulam Murtaza, Maulana Azam Tariq, Mufti Nizamuddin Shamezai……. No, the agencies have no personal enmity against me. Their enmity is not against individuals but against something bigger.

Anti-Madarsah Policies of Government

Finally, the law enforcing agencies have to enforce the law of course. How unfortunate that the law is applied only selectively. Daily there are incidents of the agencies demolishing mosques and madrassahs on the grounds that they are “illegal constructions”. Compare the figures of the “illegally constructed” mosques and Madrassahs that are demolished with those of other illegally constructed structures. You will find the figures or demolished mosques far exceeding the figures of other structures. So I can not say that the agencies have any enmity against me personally. Their enmity is against something else.

Agencies’ Misguided Reports

A lot many actions are being taken on agencies reports. No one ever consider that these agencies compile baseless, misleading reports/cases against madarsah and mosques. They compile reports according to government wishes. The agencies have dossiers on almost all the prominent religious figures. Maulana Abdul Aziz and his brother and/or Lal Masjid, of course, are the same.

Whatever is being done against Masajid or Madaris, it all seems to be part of a larger agenda which is based on the “do more” orders from elsewhere. Every perceptive person recognizes that there is something forced about the trend to target mosques and Madrassahs. There is nothing genuine, indigenous about the anti-mosque/madrassah wave sweeping across the country under the guise of “war on terror”.

The ground reality is that the government knows that Mosques and Madrassahs are not involved in any illegal, anti-social activities and the agencies keep a watchful eye on their activities at all times. The people have not been taken in by the attempts to demonize and malign them and have resisted the efforts to change their inherent character and purpose. In fact, because of all these attempts by the agenies, the stature of Masajid and Madaris and their standing has been enhanced even more.

They are There for 40 Years Now

For example, Maulana Abdul Aziz and his brother have been around in Islamabad for 40 years now. Their affiliation with Lal Masjid is decades old and their background and history is clean. No one has yet been able to cast any aspersions on them.

While they have, on occasions, had disagreements with the government on the policy issues, they have never adopted a rigid or extremist attitude and have never exceeded the limits of Islamic and legal bounds. Expediency is not their way and they have been outspoken but their aim has always been reformation/correction. Like their father, they do not believe in criticism for its own sake or in confrontation. That is not how they go about our business.

In their sermons they consider Pakistan to be the fortress of Islam and seek their guidance from the Sharia. They have consistently opposed forces which threaten Pakistan’s integrity, stability and solidarity. Maulana Abdul Aziz adheres to the principles of Shariah himself and makes the same demands on others so much so that even at the time of our father’s assassination, it was Maulana Abdul Aziz who called for restraint when people were only too ready to express their grief and anger through destruction of property and creating a law and order situation.

That is why no untoward incident occurred at the time. It required supreme efforts on their part to control not only themselves but the entire public. What greater proof of abiding by the Shariah will one have than this? Believing in terrorism is a far cry.
