NIQAB???

ok well this is sort of few a things in one. i was talking to this guy and he was saying that only way muslims can really tell if a muslim women is married is if she wears niqab. also that niqab is in the hadith, so its recommended by God, is any of this true ?

Wearing niqaab and marriage are not a joint adventure. You wear it hopes of gaining Allah's pleasure, not for your husband.. as some people believe.

If you scroll down, you will see lots of links talking about niqaab and scholars opinion about it. It is a sunnah to wear it, whether it is obligatory or not, the scholars have differ in this matter. Nothing about marriage...

No it is not true. Some muslim women who are not even married where niqab. Niqab is a personal choice for women wether married or not they have that choice but just because they do not observe niqab doesnt mean they are married and vice versa. The only way you would know if a women muslim is married is ask. (family,friends,her)

sister very well said,many people belive that a women wears niqab for her
husband which is is not true.whatever amal we do it should be first for gaining the pleasure of almighty allah.

niqab is not considered to be a must in Islam , even , some specialists in Islam say that it is not recommended and it was something special to the prophet wives as sheikh mohammed elghazaly , sheikh qaradwi and others said.
so i donot think niqab is so recommended in non-muslim countries and i adopt this point of view

Just to clarify: The terms Recommended and Required are two different things. Recommended means something preferred but NOT obligatory while Required means a must or obligatory.

No, Niqaab is NOT a symbol of being married. As for the ruling of wearing niqaab, scholars have different opinions as our brother mentioned. Some say it is Recommended and some say it is Required. Please refer to existing threads about Niqaab.
