Assalamu alaykum,

My brother has gone on holiday to egypt for a week and he met this man who has a diploma in islam and he specialises in the marriage in islam subject. Anyway this man told him that a nikah is not even essential, u just need to declare to each other that ur getting married and let the community know. He also said that the hijab is not an obligation but it's better to wear it. So now I'm confused! He's basically saying that there's no need for a nikah to be done and it's not haraam to not wear hijab as long as ur dressed modestly because it's not one of the 5 pillars. Has anyone ever heard this before????

Thats the thing when people specialized themself in any subject. Well he is not our prophet and such fitna is spread from Egypt since a lot of years. Let us to be stick with quran and sunnah , not with any specilized egyptian so called certifiactes scholar.

Subhaan Allaah. Such a man is only one of those who calls to other than the Qur'aan and Sunnah, a path other than the way of the believers. A pillar in `Arabic is called a rukn. A rukn is often also called a jaanib. A rukn/jaanib is what supports something. Thus the pillars of the religion which number 5, are what support/hold up one's Islaam, it doesn't mean that any other obligations other than them are not in fact obligatory! The 5 pillars make up the basis of Islaam, not restrict Islaam!

His idea of marriage is totally wrong, the woman HAS to have a Walee. Anyway, we have many articles here to refute this filthy kalaam of his. I'm sorry but that is what it is.

Sister sal, try and focus on the core of Islaam, the correct Islamic belief and inshaa' Allaah, such idiotic doubts won't confuse you or cause you to doubt. In fact I advise all of us, including myself to become ground in the fundamentals of Islaam. Sister sal, we are here to answer your questions providing clear proofs from the Qur'aan, Sunnah and way of the Salaf us-Saalih.

Wa`alaykum us-salaam warahmatullaah.

LOL i agree, there's heaps of those people around. There was this highly respected sheikh, when it was time for prayer, he didnt get up. When he was asked as to why he isnt praying, he said "Because the Pen has been lifted of me"!!! What nonsense is that! Jut becoz he was some shiekh, he thought that he didn't need to perform any more prayers. subhanallah

:salam2:

nikah, not necessary? you definitely cannot get married in the way that man mentioned. any two people can say they're getting married, but it doesn't mean that they are. it's an attempt to live unlawfully.

hijab not necessary? of course it is. i do understand that some sisters are in certain situations that make wearing hijab very difficult to do and are unable for reasons that only ALLAH SWT knows about. however, the quran mentions the necessity, the sunnah mentions the necessity, and the scholars have consensus on it's necessity. what more proof does one need?

these things are the most fundamental things, so for that guy to say this is simply out of his mind.

What were his evidences? Evidences from the holy Quran and authentic Hadith. Just he uttered without proving what he was saying. Your brother should have asked him for evidences and explanation. I personally do not listen to words like this although I am not a perfet practising Muslim. Inshallah I will be.

What a crazy man. He has no evidence what so ever that he can support his nosense statement, all he wants to do is to confuse people who have no knowledge and the youngest one. So may allah forgive him and show him the right path. The quran and the sunnah is our evidence to follow not a unknowledable man who doesnt know what he is talking abt:astag:.

Careful Sister!

Why do you think that our beloved Prophet Mohamed (Salla allaho aleihi wa salam)said that if we don't want to go astraywe shoud cling ontoThe Coran and his Sunna?

I know! but my brother isn't exactly..."islamic" if u know what i mean. As far as my brother is concerned it's what's on the inside that counts not on the outside so he was really happy upon hearing what that man told him and he believes him so there's not much I can do even if I give evidence against that! Anyway I just wanted to ask if anyone had heard about it and obviously no one has! Jazakallahu khayran for ur replies!

Btw someone above wrote about the sheikh who felt he didn't have to pray because the pens had lifted off him or something! LOL at that! that made me laugh! Does he think he's the "chosen one" or something?!

But if SHEIKHS and people studying Islam are saying these things then who are we supposed to ask when we need advice and knowledge?! What a messed up world!!

Salaam,

Islamic education in egypt or elsewhere isn't what it used to be. Even those graduating from Al Azar come out with very odd ideas. Which don't seem supported by anything but there own abstract reasoning.
