Remedy for Sadness & Sorrow#1

Indeed, it’s a great blessing from Allah that He made us Muslims. And it’s a great favor upon us that He gave us knowledge to recognize Him, made Himself known to us and taught us to ask from Him. Allah is that Noble Being through whom every creation in the sky and earth asks forth.

“Whoever is within the heavens and earth asks Him; every day He is bringing about a matter.” (55:29)

(Thus, we learn.) His creation in the sky and earth asks from Him. The universe in its entirety is in total submission to Him.

“All are devoutly obedient to Him,” (2:116)

All the creation is dutiful to their Lord (Allah). Their loyalty and allegiance is to Him alone. Similarly, all the creation remembers Him.

“And there is not a thing except that it exalts [ Allah ] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting.” (17:44)

So this human being for whom Allah has created all of these blessings. Is it only him that will now not bow before Allah? Is it only him that will now not ask from Allah? Is it only him that will now not be dutiful to Allah?

Remember, if the universe is in complete submission to Allah while us in its true meaning do not prostrate, obey, be dutiful and abide by Allah’s dictates. Then, someone else will not be in loss or harmed because the entire creation is already pleasing its Lord (Allah) by acting in according to Allah’s will.

If we don’t worship Allah, then it is our loss. This is why it is compulsory for us to turn towards Allah. This should not just be done through mere words but with one’s heart, one’s soul, complete focus, love and interest. We should exhaust every method and call on Allah so much so that He becomes pleased with us. We should prostrate ourselves to Him so much so that He becomes happy.

And why should we not prostrate before Him? Why should we not be obedient to Him? Allah knows every condition of ours. Allah knows our difficulties, our weaknesses, our worries, our moments of grief and our moments of sadness. Allah is aware of everything.

“Allah is Subtle with His servants” (42:19)

And we all have to turn towards Him. We have to return to Him. And if today, we do not return to Him happily. We do not turn to Him lovingly. We do not sincerely mention His name. Then, remember that Allah is not in need of us.

The creation like branches, trees or stone, their obedience and worship such as remembrance of Allah (tasbih) is pure and done without any show. These creations do not attach any self importance towards themselves. However, it’s with deep regret that even when we prostrate before Allah or do a small good deed, normally what is our desire? We desire that others come to know, they become happy with us and become pleased with us. We end up including others as partners in our worship to Allah.
