Spending in charity

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah.

Spending in charity is a means by which the slave can protect himself from the heat of Hell. From Adiyy bin Haatim: "I heard the Prophet saying: "Protect yourself from the (Hell) Fire, even (if) by giving half a date (in charity)." (al-Bukhaari, Muslim)
